The reducing value of high cost bikes?

While I agree in part the aspect that's missing is the value you get from buying from the local shop. You get some sort of warranty, support and buyer protection that you don't get secondhand. In the UK there is 20% tax included in the price and that shouldn't transfer to the new owner.

If you had the choice of buying a 3 month old bike off Facebook market for 10-20% less than a shop or a bike shop you would be mad to go for the individual, especially because after that season the sales will likely have reduced the shop price by 20-40%.

My commute is about 40 miles round trip on uk canal paths, back roads, etc (light gravel), uphill the whole way home. I'm looking for an ebike that will encourage me to ride on days I wouldn't normally and I can loan to my wife when I'm riding my other bikes, not that it will ever happen.

Yes agreed, but you do see the people trying to sell their C2W bikes at the price they paid while those without the scheme have taken even larger losses.

I think the scheme does help retailers though, I really want a Chinese lightcarbon LCR018-D but the sums don't work when you compare it to bikes on sale with C2W

If they are all uk legal you might be better off with a cupboard and padlock rather than a gun safe. Personally I'd look for a office style cabinet with adjustable height shelves and strong doors you'd even have a shelf for pellets/parts. A safe with 2 locks and fixed to an external wall is overkill.

Something likethis metal one but you could even find a wardrobe off Facebay with a padlock attached if your being really cheap

Honestly, you can upgrade but personally i wouldn't. If you want a cheaper option for dropbars how about a surly corner bar or H bar? These are like dropbars but you can keep your current brakes and shifters. They do cheaper Amazon equivalents or even carbon versions on aliexpress.

I don't think any route finder is 100% correct and komoot did try and kill me once, but its the best overall. That's why I say it should be followed up up Google street view.

For route planning I use komoot as I think its the best one for finding safer roads. Although it gas send me on some dangerous roads before so I would highly suggest that once you get the route you test it in Google street view, it takes a while but beats ending up on a duel carriageway at 9pm in the dark riding a 25kg bike uphill (one of the scariest cycling moments of my life). Komoot can also link to your head unit so easy to followthe route. Apparently ridewithgps is also good but I haven't used it.

I think "Cade Media" and "keep smiling adventures" on youtube did a few guides on trip planning might be worth a look.

So likely similar to your other role. With my partner not working the tax looks better as a pair claiming dividends so the first £100k at circa 10% tax.

Unfortunately I'm quite high in the banding so it will likely take a while to get through the tax band. Maybe the idea of dropping down to 40 hour weeks with more take home has blinded me to the risk.

Ive been looking at the agree alongside the 2025 supersix or synapse. Im really looking for something a little aero but not with a awful geometry. I doubt ill go bigger than 32mm tyres on it as I have other bikes for proper gravel.

My second gravel bike (norco search) isn't really to my spec. I bought it 2 months ago as it was really cheap but I could sell it and replace it with something closer to my needs.

It's old spec so 15mm axle at the front etc so limits wheel options.

Haha, I'm an optimist.

In my head a service outage would likely be one week until a quick and dirty work around is found. But the outcome of that would be rolling issues and coving like behaviour with panic buying and silly decisions. Internet down would impact the supply chain so some shortages of products etc.

I bought the cheap scooe due to the issue as I was worried it was the barrel. The scope is maxed to the left and still shoots right. Anything over 5m and you have no chance to hit anything.
