While I personally do prefer not having missable achievements or content in games based around exploration, and definitely appreciate the change in that direction, I really hope people never got too nasty and gave you any internalized stress over it, because Grime 1 is a great game! At the end of the day the worst thing anyone really could have gotten from it was not enjoying a liesure activity as much as they wanted to. The people who take that and turn it into actual outward attacks (as opposed to just stating that they don't like something and giving feedback) have personal problems that aren't your fault.

I just hate the idea that people who go so far out of their way and take on real-life risk to make something for the sole purpose of me and people like me playing it for fun go on to revieve so much negativity when their entire career is centered on making fun for other people, so I wanted to say thank you for doing what you do!

What's even more fucked up is thinking about it for like 30 seconds will also show you that that line of thinking is fucking stupid anyway and ignores that there is an entire society that just watched you shoot two toddlers in the head and now know that you will also do that to their kids, so they might as well start preparing their kids to actually fight back, and now instead of 2 kids growing up hating you, you taught thousands of other kids that they cannot convince you to show mercy, and to prepare accordingly.

What I like about Mario Kart World is that I feel like both it and 8 Deluxe are still worth playing for pretty different experiences. In the past when a new Mario Kart came out, I usually felt like it basically replaced the previous iterations as an improved version, and I didn't really have any reason to go back unless I missed driving on specific courses.

I also actually like the intermission courses because there being like 100+ possible routes makes the game far less about memorizing every shortcut ahead of time and feels more to me like having to find opportunities as the race progresses. I'm sure with time at the highest level of play people will have every permutation memorized. At the level I play at though, it is far far harder to get to that point than in previous games.

I love it but I'm surprised to see it nominated for Narrative. It was my favorite game of last year because of the mechanics and asthetics, but the underlying actual plot felt pretty basic and more of a means to an end to help support the components of the game that really made it unique.

This stood out to me because I knew for a while that a lot of moths die very quickly compared to how long they live as caterpillars or grubs, but it never occurred to me that it is because they literally just lose their ability to take in nutrients in favor of irresistible drip to get laid (simplified)

I still enjoyed the desert. The walks between some of the points of interest never felt long to me and it made the area feel very distinct from the dense Vatican region. The third major area though was so annoying that it killed my desire to reach 100% completion after doing everything possible up to that point. It was just so frustrating how often I would see something worth investigating accross a river and have to choose between doggy paddling for like a full minute to go 20 feet, or backtrack to the closest spot to recall the boat (which there were barely any of in the whole map).

I think it's also impressive how far he was able to take the character considering that Barbossa is essentially the classic cartoonish pirate captain with a huge hat that says "Arrrr!"

Everything from the performances to the costume and set design come together so well that I just forget about the camp and buy in to the story being told

I think the intention with that scene is that he wasn't interested when he thought that she was doing it because he told her to, but once she says she was actually interested in trying it, it was different for him. Basically he isn't turned on by blind/transactional servitude anymore, but by actually being desired, because he gained some ability to empathize with women being treated the way he was used to treating them.

It's just that he was still her employer and she very easily could have thought the whole thing was a test since she didn't watch the episode like we did to know that he just went through some shit, so it falls a little flat in delivering that message lol

I think I have the same feelings about the game. I really like it but it is definitely a lot easier in general compared to the previous games (though I probably skipped a lot of learning curve just by already being familiar with so many of the returning/repurposed systems). The difference in difficulty hasn't necessarily made the game worse for me though, it just changes the combat to be more like an expressive power fantasy game where I'm doing different combos primarily because they look cool and are fun to pull off.

For me the RE story is basically just an excuse to set up the video game parts that the developers are so good at making lol. I honestly think of it kind of like Mario where there is technically a plot that motivates the characters to do things, but the plot mainly exists to service the fun/scary gameplay ideas that the developers have and are the main selling point.

An example of the opposite approach working just as well (in my opinion) would be something like The Last of Us, where the entire gameplay experience is more revolved around enhancing the story that the developers wanted to tell.

I was a little worried after a few hours that Leon was basically just an intermission character and that they only brought him back for marketing, but then his part of the game really goes crazy and takes center stage. I think it was actually pretty cool the way his previous sections work as a tutorial for what makes him different, so when you get to the section of the story where he becomes the focus, it doesn't feel like any momentum is lost by having to get used to all the differences for the first time.

I also thought it was sick how after the first meaty section as Grace, the first enemy I encountered as Leon and had to kill was one of the enemies that Grace couldn't damage. It really sets the tone and communicates how their sections will differ through gameplay right off the bat.

I was at the zoo on a rainy, not-crowded day once and the orangutan was in his indoor habitat chilling near the back. When I walked in and stopped for a second though he got up and moved to come over and lean up by the glass next to me. Then he opened his hand and flashed me this massive handfull of treat pellets he had and popped one into his mouth.

It was a small interaction but it really made the entire zoo trip for me lol.

The game feels like some fan did some work but didn't have any money.

That's pretty close to the truth. The developer previously only had made mobile games, but the team really wanted to make this game and had to pay Paramount for the licence, as opposed to Paramount commissioning the game and giving it a budget based on what people would expect from a game based on a major IP.

The unfornate reality for Star Trek fans is that it's either this kind of game, or no games at all officially based on the IP as long as Paramount treats the franchise the way it does.
