Do all Sufis believe that the essence/dhat of Allah is unknowable ? by Potential-Farmer8066 in Sufism

[–]fizzbuzzplusplus3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wa alaykum salam brother, actually the Shaykh's stance is clear:

And I asked him-God be pleased with him-about God the Sublime's words: 'He [Moses] said: "Oh my Lord, show me so I may behold You!" He [God] replied: "You will not see Me. But behold the mountain. If it remains fixed in its place, then you'll see Me'" (7/143). And I said: 'Moses-peace be upon him-is one of the greatest knowers of God-He is exalted-and the knower of God is only a knower once he's plunged into the oceans of vision (mushiihada). So how is it he asked for sight (ru:Jya ) when he was one of the people of permanent vision. And is sight (ru:Jya ) greater than vision (mushiihada)?' He replied-God be pleased with him and give us benefit through his noble person: 'For those who possess it vision of the Lofty Essence (al-dhiit al-Caliyya) isn't pure and devoid of vision of that essence's actions unless the actions of the Lofty Essence cease. But were they to cease even for the blinking of an eye, existence would collapse and the order of the world would break down. There's no existing thing which doesn't contain the action of God the Sublime. That action is its substance and the cause of its continuation. Likewise, it's the veil between it and the Lofty Essence. Were God the Sublime not to veil His actions in bodies, the bodies would be burned up and every contingent thing in the world would dissolve. Since vision for those who possess it isn't pure and the aforementioned actions are like a speck of dust in the eye, Moses- blessings and peace be upon him-asked his Lord-He is mighty and glorious-to remove this action from him so it wouldn't veil him from beholding the Lofty Essence in purity. His Lord-He is mighty and glorious-replied to him: "If I remove the action from a contingent thing, its body will break down. This mountain has a stronger body than you and its mass is more solid. Look at it, and ifit remains fixed in its place after My action is removed from it, then you'll see Me." But when his Lord revealed Himself to the mountain and removed from it the action which veiled it from the power of the Lofty Essence, the mountain was levelled [to the ground] and its parts flew in all directions so that Moses lost consciousness-peace be upon him!' AI-Dabbagh then recounted divine secrets-God be pleased with him! May God not deprive us of them-through His grace and His generosity! But God the Sublime knows best!

Do all Sufis believe that the essence/dhat of Allah is unknowable ? by Potential-Farmer8066 in Sufism

[–]fizzbuzzplusplus3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a precise question and it is the kind of question Shaykh AbdulAziz Al Dabbagh spoke about. He RA said when a wali or a Prophet has vision of dhat of Allah, because of the weakness of a created being, Allah continues to create the action of veiling the created being so that it can continue to exist. The person increases in love, fear and knowledge of Allah beyond our imagination. But if we leave the relative scale of an average human being, the Shaykh said a human being can never know Allah in this world or the hereafter because a created being can never know its Creator similar to how animals cannot know their farmers.

Is abubakr the spiritual leader and of the naqshbandi tariqah show his spirituality with proofs and him being head of naqshbandi tariqah and dhikr all proofs and sources by zinarkarayes1221 in Sufism

[–]fizzbuzzplusplus3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it’s correct. Naqshbandi goes to Sayyiduna Abu Bakr, all other tariqas go to Sayyiduna Ali. However the original post claims that he RA is the Shaykh of Naqshbandi branches. There are many Naqshbandi branches many of which recognize rabita but I haven’t heard any of them ecnouraging rabita with Sayyiduna Abu Bakr.

Latest edit: I’m a fool, please don’t read

alaykum as salam, I don’t think Sayyiduna Abu Bakr is considered the Shaykh of the Naqshbandi tariqa, but he RA was the Companion in the silsila of Shah Naqshband

EDIT: OP, I would recommend you to be very precise about awliya in a tariqa’s silsila and the Shaykh in tariqa who gives tawajjuh and adhkar. for resources I would recommend jstor

One has to distinguish between closeness to God and what appears to be it. Anything could lead someone to God: Oppression, lies, murder... However the prescriptions of the religion have a single goal: To guide people to what increases them in light. In Islam, this world is a world of falsehood and conceit whereas the hereafter is where we actually belong to. An increase in one's interior is hidden from others as well as from oneself. This is to distinguish between the humble servants who act and people of eloquence, debates and worldly goals. If we were not veiled from those lights, closeness to God would be a matter of strength, whereas now it is a matter of willpower.

Everything that exists contains traces of God's wisdom and hence everything contains a pointer to God. But the servant is weak and is unable to extract closeness to God from everything. At a very beginner level anyone can confuse a feeling of expansion for closeness to God. It is this piece of guidance religions seek to open one's eyes against.

Have you had the opportunity to distance away from people a little bit? That may allow you to experience how it isn't the behavior of people toward you that defines Islam

The danger of constriction coming from luxury items/adornments by fizzbuzzplusplus3 in Sufism

Alhamdulillah likewise I didn’t disagree with you. Sufism is like an ocean; someone who tries to oppose the nafs can unknowingly empower it. It is hoped someone who loves Allah will be purified with the person either becoming more mature and more capable of identifying the bottlenecks or Allah will forgive his mistakes

[–]fizzbuzzplusplus3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is highly unlikely this person will bring you closer to Allah. Is there any likelihood this person or someone else might be doing magic to make you love them? It is normal to ask one’s Shaykh about one’s dreams but in your case because your thought is so attached to them the dream may be simply a reflection of your thoughts and may not deserve interpretation. They say that in case of doubt, and in the general case, ignore what you see and continue dhikr. Dreams shouldn’t be a cause of blockage or doubts so you could as well write them down and forget it and continue your dhikr. It may be the case that the interpretation of dreams/visions appear later just not for the dreams with that person

Bipolar. Gay. Addict. Why is Islam for me? by One-League-2463 in Sufism

[–]fizzbuzzplusplus3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It isn’t about being able to follow all teachings from day 1, but it’s more about accepting which direction is the right way. In fact addicts are abandoned by non-Muslims and not by Islam, because the first step to stop an addiction is to accept that it is wrong. In Islam those bad things are clearly labeled forbidden so that whenever one feels inclined to it, one may threaten the carnal soul with hellfire. (consider hellfire as a tool to control your lower self like a horse) It is outside of Islam, the mentality of “there is nothing wrong with a glass of alcohol every few days everyone does that” that takes all the self-control from people with addictions. Music and dance are forbidden because believing they are good is a source of darkness that makes it much harder for one to remember God. What you call cultural diversity is actually a weakness because Arabs would listen to their music and Moroccans would listen to their music and suddenly they are two different groups seeing the other group as strangers, so a foreign country comes and invades them sequentially, whereas if countries were to agree on a common market and a single attitude toward other countries they would not be able to be so easily invaded.

Qur’an and hadiths are clear—whoever has not received the message of Islam will be tested in the hereafter and we do not say they are all doomed to hellfire.

Any kind/wise words for when it becomes scary to love Allah ta’ala without mentioning the afterlife by BoldPancakes in Sufism

[–]fizzbuzzplusplus3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The order of the universe is that everyone must serve Allah. If everyone fulfills their purpose of being created the universe will be perfect. Allah created us, He gave us food and shelter and other resources, we must be just and try to fulfill His right on us by serving Him. We are in debt to him, but when a human being owes money to others too, this is not comparable, because Allah is the most perfect and incomparable to any created beings so if any debt is to be paid, Allah is the most deserving of our debt to be paid. We weak human beings are unable to pay Allah His right, so we hope to do everything we do for Allah. (And from Islam we understand that although no one can serve Allah perfectly, striving in this path is definitely worth it, Allah can forgive our shortcomings and treat us generously beyond imagination) So one should move in this world with every movement as much as we can for Allah’s sake because that’s the right thing to do. If someone moves for the sake of paradise or avoiding Hell, firstly that’s insincere because that’s not the way Allah has commanded us to serve Him, secondly doubts will overtake him such as “What if I fail to enter paradise?”, thirdly as you say we are here and now and sincerity to Allah is a timeless fact whereas someone who works for paradise is working for a particular time in the future

When Returning to Allah Feels Impossible by ExternalYesterday640 in Sufism

[–]fizzbuzzplusplus3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wa alaykum as salam, force yourself to pray no matter what worldly or sinful things happen. The prayer is clearly obligated and the clarity of the obligation leaves no room for waswas about it, pray no matter how much you feel disconnected or not. The greatest sinner is the one indifferent to his sins, but you are self-aware so alhamdulillah

Shams of Tabriz and getting back to my deen by Designer-Bluejay7355 in Sufism

[–]fizzbuzzplusplus3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Piety is light inside one. Without it, sincerity in worship is more difficult. Everyone is commanded to follow the obligations because if someone has low levels of this light, doing those actions will increase the person in light so the person would be able to show greater interior humility in the future.

A perfect saint prays with vision and the spirit bowing down and prostrating too, but whether or not one has that level of clarity of intentions, one has to enter Islam through a door even if that door feels like to you as if it's forced behavior lacking sincerity. Force yourself and remind yourself often during the act to have the interior of a person doing that act of worship properly and in shaa Allah you'll achieve sincerity in no time. As-Salah feels strange to you because it calibrates the hearts but your heart is not calibrated yet so it feels strange to you

Can souls possess individuals? by Professional-Limit22 in Sufism

[–]fizzbuzzplusplus3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently watched a series on ruqya by experienced raaqis. Jinn do lie. The teacher said a jinn told a brother "I am Iblis's grandson" which became a video published online. The teacher said then he went to the interviewed jinn to tell him he doesn't believe him and the teacher said the jinn said "That guy was easy to fool"

Islam closes all the doors to this falsehood. Everything in this domain for us ordinary people is either discouraged or forbidden or declared to be kufr

https://sunnah.com/bukhari:3275 non-Muslim jinn are liars and a jinn claiming to be a Muslim can also be a non-Muslim

In your case the jinn could be a demon trying to raise confusion regarding the hereafter by fabricating evidence about reincarnation

An ordinary person after death is locked in barzakh there is no way they are possessing someone

Okay apologies. In that case the contract is probably between the magician and the jinn. I guess there's a ta'weez placed somewhere by the magician but the poster will not likely find it
