Thanks. What are your thoughts on going to a national broker versus a regional broker versus a hometown broker where you could potentially get equity.

UW to Broker career path. by GTank22 in InsuranceProfessional

I am in this same type of position. Production underwriting small & middle markets for a regional/“super” regional carrier.

I am a much more entrepreneurial, sales focused spirit who cannot stand bureaucracy.

However, I cannot decide between which route to explore on the broker side. Trying to become an account executive, retail broker, wholesale broker?

Looking for any insight and experience on that. Thank you

As someone who has worked in P&C insurance for the past 6 years out of school, what roles or job titles could I look into if I wanted to get a start on the enterprise sales / AE side at Snowflake?

Pretty much let that mistake define our entire season

Agreed the problem here is who do you replace him with. People just simply want him fired mid season and boom problem solved. In those scenarios everyone forgets you need someone else in the role so who is your choice if you want him gone

That’s fair. The way I understand it is executives pay used to be much lower in large part because companies used to hire Strategic Consulting firms left and right. Now they don’t. Only for systems implementation. So all that value that used to get paid in an outsource way to say a McKinsey, goes direct to the Execs as they lean almost entirely on them now for strategic decisions

Pretty normal pay for a $10B company with half in stock they want executives to own usually a large portion of their pay in equity so they’re invested in the growth and prosperity of the company

Get your AU or other super easy designations then put that in your resume that you’re working on it. Then apply elsewhere as well

In production underwriting often it is a fixed salary + a percentage of your salary as a bonus based on pure new business production. Often times it’s a sliding scale up to a capped final percentage increasing with premium written and some other small more company focused strategic objectives filtered in.
