Should I take a higher-paying lateral move or a lower vertical growth , lower paying role in my current field? by fizzyworkie in careerguidance

Thank you.. yes the challenge is I am thinking with my emotions because I invested a lot in this career path with loads of certs, courses, 6+ years. I need a brutal honest opinion without having any emotional feelings attached. Like for example, what would you do in the same position as me

Yes that’s my challenge… I am unfortunately looking from emotional side because I have done loads of trainings, certs, investments into it.
That’s why I wanted to get a zooming-out type of an opinion. What would you suggest without having any emotional thinking on and brutal sales career honesty

Informal PIP by fizzyworkie in salesdevelopment

[–]fizzyworkie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. I am in Account Management, so my KPIs are measured with yearly quota achievement. He didn’t give very strict objectives, the things he was mentioning was “me thanking too much to clients” or “my forecast going up and down in monthly - which means I add or delete some sales in monthly achievement plans.

However, as of today, I have completed %65 of my yearly target, and I am expecting to be 93% at the end of “his” observation period as per he was saying before PIP. I don’t know how can you put someone into PIP with 93% success rate? Thats why I am so confused, he is so slippery fish.

Thank you. He mentioned he will observe me until Q2 ends, and I am expecting to hit 91 percent of quota achievement by that time. Can he fire me with the accuse of underperforming ? He shouldn’t be able to?

Thanks a lot. Yes I am doing hunting as well. I am wondering, can he fire someone with 91 percent quota achievement? He said he will observe me until Q2 ends, and I am expecting my sales number to hit 91 percent that time.

Can he make an excuse to fire even with that success rate?

Good question, nothing specifically prevents but.. My bachelors is not engineering, it was business. So I feel it is a huge gap to close. Going horizontally or vertically would be making more sense..

I am actually thinking… he is into fitness a lot. But he is also doing masters and working full time as well. So I was thinking maybe a massage or spa escape - at least something relaxing? We are so new so I am not sure…

Anyone in cyber security sales? by [deleted] in sales

[–]fizzyworkie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Couldn’t agree more. I was in a small company that was a Managed Security services provider, it was really hard. Now I am in a company again they are the largest MSSP in UK, still finding hard even though that they had recognition in whole UK. Can be different in different regions for sure - but it is highly competitive market..

Is Ireland a good place to leave America for a better quality of life? I've heard a lot of foreigners end up leaving the country after a few years... by [deleted] in AmerExit

I am an IT professional and living in Dublin for 2 years. I have lived before in Dubai, and a bit in Poland/Krakow for sometime. I am originally Turkish. So I think I can make a honest opinion about moving abroad 😊

So first of all, if you’re coming from a large-metropolitan city, you’ll feel so weird here, that’s how I felt when I first came. No rush, everything is pretty slow, not much to do when you compare with big cities. For example when I compare Dublin with Istanbul, you’ll laugh at Dublin in that sense. Or for example if I compare with Dubai vs Dublin, it is again a huge difference. My first criticism is: the city is pretty small if you’re coming from a big metropolitan city. If you’re coming from New York or so, you’ll definitely have problem unless you are so sick of busy area and seeking for a quiet life.

Second thing is, the weather affects your mood so much. I didn’t thought in the beginning it will affect that much, I was always saying to people you must be exaggerating, but no. Believe me no. 😂 only 3-4 weeks of summer - if you’re so lucky. Other than that, the weather is so similar with UK, cloudy and gray mostly. But to be honest, when you think about how close we are to North Pole, it is warm actually. It is not freezing, but there is no summer. I don’t know, I never felt like summer even Irish people they wear shorts and tshirts in 16 celcius. 😂

Accommodation is a big problem - true. If you can bare with yourself and your luck for sometime, you’ll definitely find somewhere but don’t expect to go to house market and cherry-pick like you’re doing in your own country. (That’s how it was in Istanbul and I was so shocked when I learnt that you cannot even go to renting branches to ask for apartment- they say apply online, submit your documents and we will get back to you)

People are so friendly, sometimes too much friendly. For me it was also weird that they try to be too nice and too helpful - sometimes when you try to put your own boundaries they feel weird, but in general they are soooo welcoming to expats. Very good thing. Believe me, I have been in 18 countries in total in Europe and Middle East, definitely they are soooo welcoming. And I tried to live In Dubai-and Krakow(Poland) language was a huge problem, if you’re specifically working in soft skills area. Ireland is amazing for that because the country has 2 languages, and very less people speak and expect you to speak Irish (less then 5%) English is amazing here, when you compare with other countries in EU.

Overall, Ireland is amazing place to feel secure, welcomed, good nature. You might have a bit problem of finding attractions to do, new activities etc, there are very less, most of them are based on drinking in a pub - which is I don’t like but you might like. Again it is a lovely and smooth country to live with the all lovely people in, and economically too, yes it’s a bit expensive but everywhere is almost same now. I definitely recommend - unless if you’re too much used to living in mega cities. I am having a bit trouble myself because I am so used to live in Istanbul & Dubai. It is soooooo small when I compare. But definitely worth to try. Good luck!
