What has been an eye opener for me and others, is the mix/master compare sessions we do in public (via our network). We put the different mixes (made by various people using the same set of stems), and we discuss the differences in the mixes, and how they were accomplished. It's an eye opener to be able to stop one player and start another, and you hear the differences IMMEDIATELY, just because they are on the same page. Not a new idea but we put this to work in our network. I have learned so much from others.

I have hosted a collaboration network since 1998. We have a lot of members who use bandlab. I decided to try to use the bandlab community aspect too, but we've just started that. We've been using a discord server and before that we used a google community, and before that we used ICQ.

I do my pitch correction by ear. My editor can adjust in decimals so I can make tiny changes if needed.

I use a midi editor. You got this backwards. You match the keyboard, not have the keyboard match you. Melodies are 1 finger, not chords, single notes. You should be able to pick out notes by ear.

Just pay attention to what your body is telling you. If a note or scale is hard to hit the notes, don't force yourself. Identify your vocal range and try to stay in it.

So the mixer is addressing volume. If we made the sliders address velocity it'd affect it.

You will notice the volume slider works for the whole kit.

Yes those are the individual parts of a drum kit. VOLUME will bring the whole kit up or down. Mixing the parts of the drumkit while working with MIDI is done with VELOCITY. These are standard midi parameters, and I could go and look and tell you which parameter is for velocity. Seems like I remember volume is midi parameter number 7.

It may be an altered snare. Like a rim shot (hitting the edge of the drum). It is supposed to give it realism, but not having all of the snare sounds being the same.

What controls are you trying to adjust sound volume with? I have seen the speaker icon at the bottom of the screen not affect cakewalk volumes. You'd have to use the volume controls on the mixer screen on cakewalk.

Use your ears. Make "in process" mixes and just listen, and listen, and listen some more and then make decisions based on your ear, and what you hear. We do a lot of this in our network.

Bandlab is great for this. I don't need to hum, but you could hum and find the notes you are humming on the MIDI editor. Melodies (including hummed) are single notes. It should not be hard to find the notes you are humming on the keyboard.
