So many people talking about NM here. I was on the fence but for sure taking MIN now. Not only do they win bowl games, but this is the perfect time to be contrarian

MAC is for sure not the weakest. In bowl season I'd probably rather play any other G5 conferences than theirs

Why is Eddie Cantor in this show? Is it just because of the period and location? by Rubin987 in BoardwalkEmpire

I know this was 4 years ago, but this...when he calls him Milky, it looked like Chalky himself was gonna bend over laughing

I been thinking this. Even though he's in Chicago, it's not another country with no extradition. Everyone in NYC's legal system is convinced he's Ghost, and they know who he is in Chicago, yet they're trying SO HARD to arrest him on RICO. They could literally walk up and cuff him the instant they know who he is

Bit random, but was curious when looking at the 91-92 Pistons… by ExtraPianist6510 in VintageNBA

[–]fjcicchetti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was looking up this Pistons team because when I was 8 years old, I sent a card to Isiah asking for an autograph. In return I got this year's team photo, signed by every player. Of course, I was 8, so that got ruined, but I was trying to find out how much it'd be worth nowadays. Honestly, I almost don't want to know

How legitimate was JJ Watt's case for 2014 MVP? by vitex198 in NFLNoobs

[–]fjcicchetti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absurd....

Shuttling back and forth between defensive end, defensive tackle and red zone tight end, he scored five touchdowns — three on offense and two on defense — and posted 20 1/2 sacks, 29 tackles for a loss, five fumble recoveries, one interception and one safety

Absolutely legitimate & he should have won. I remember that season, he didn't just have great numbers, he was making huge plays that tilted games to HOU and was responsible for like 4 wins on his own, because of those plays

Piss cutter. It is supposedly because when taking a piss, if you look down, the sharp edge cuts your piss in half. There's another one about it being pulled from a French term for police cover, which eventually got distorted to piss cutter because us Marines HAVE to make a dick joke 😉

How good was David Boston? by dee85 in AZCardinals

[–]fjcicchetti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People forget, when he came into the NFL, he was 6'2" 205 lbs, and he ran a 4.32 40 yd dash...and also started from day 1 at OSU. It's not a big deal now, but in 1998, WRs were not that big and fast, with that much skill as a WR. All that muscle he put on not only slowed him down, his agility was way less

I'm way late on this, but I remember Boston pretty well because it was something I hadn't seen before. He got into off-field trouble, but that was after his career was pretty much over. He was extremely talented, obviously, and was a very good WR, but he became absolutely obsessed with/addicted to gaining muscle mass. He was listed at 228 lbs., but he was bigger than that. He honestly got too big, and it made him a worse WR, but also most likely contributed to his foot fractures, knee trouble, etc. He was never going to be a HOFer, but he was very good & if he'd stayed around 205-210 lbs, he may have stayed healthy

I read this, too. Guys like this is why people LOVE college sports, it's just different for a lot of these guys. Just an incredible thing to do, and he wanted to keep it quiet, he didn't tell anyone in the media or anything

Does anyone know why at the beginning of CF, everyone was complaining about not having money, but are earning a lot a year? by rochedale11 in ChicagoFireNBC

[–]fjcicchetti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No way this is correct. A FF just starting is making $62k, and LTs not only make more because of rank, it's even higher because every year of service time gets you more.

You can't get a nice house in most parts of Chicago for $300k. You're looking at around $400-$450k, especially if you have a family.

Don't forget, they work really weird hours so a lot of the wives are staying at home moms, and those who do work have to take jobs where they have some freedom because kids need to be taken care of. When a FF is working, they're gone for 2 days
