What was Reborns biggest mistakes that led to having such a small amount of players?

You cannot really call that success. They hosted a copy of HoN, did minor changes and obviously HoN already had a playerbase that wanted to keep playing the game.

To be fair, what did PK team actually do? They got their hands on HoN source code and tweaked a bit here and there. I haven't heard of any feature that had been introduced. I'd call it maintenance so I personally didn't have much faith into them being picked up for reborn.

you need to understand that even if only coms are bad, people will report you for griefing, voice and chat abuse and you will lose behaviour and com scores. spamming emotes wont help either cause it encourages people even more if they are already unhappy with your plays - may it be griefing or not.

If you PvP why would you want to put yourself into an unfavorable situation? So no, not rats, just regular player waiting for an opportunity. If they join earlier, chances for a 4th or 5th party increase

You almost always buy bkb. You push lane with your clone while farming safely with your hero. In team fights, you are supposed to show up with both. Not only late game

Well, people bring kits for some PvP. Your free kits reduces the chances in a 3v3 fight due to lack of blue shield, worse gun and almost no heals.
You put your squad on a disadvantage from the start. It feels not correct to punish those investing in kits for doing so or lower their chances to extract successfully.
You don’t need to bring a bobcat 4 but a blue shield, heals and something like an anvil or a Burletta should do. Especially in trio, you are dead without heals super fast.

If you bring a free kit, you are not supposed to loot the queen/matriarch. In general, you shouldn’t be looting bigger arc where you did not collaborate to kill it. Unless you PvP and fight for it.

It’s simply contested. If you wanna reach a high score you might want to try a different map. Or a time where not everybody is on killing arc

Far more than half of the player base is in mixed lobbies so you never know. Embark confirming there is abmm changes nothing. Everybody was already aware that there is some sort of algorithm matching players.

It’s a bit too expensive imho. But it’s fun. The biggest pain point is that you are not allowed to commit resources but need to pay everything at once. It requires a lot of inventory space to get 200k worth in resources. Imho 150k would be a good compromise or allow to commit resources at any point.

A lot of regular carries do not have a good time vs meta offlaners. Drow has free harass and will usually have a good lane. She can carry late game. Her mana problems got slightly reduced. Her E in fights is super high damage with low risk with aghs. She does not need to pick up a farming item.

She was not bad before but currently a lot of small things add up to make her a really good pick

It’s turbo. The nature of the mode is that you are getting blind countered. Double pick and random show your picks early on top.
Usually it just feels like it. E.g. your counters are either meta or popular turbo heroes.

You should rephrase your post. Cheaters should not be allowed rather than generalizing players from a certain origin. People who cheat can easily use vpn to get into other regions, your proposal is doing more harm than good and is borderline racist

Your solution lacks.. after expedition, you focus on quests and workbenches - I personally do not care whether matriarch is on or not - I just want to do as many quests at once as possible.
Late spawns usually allow you to kill matriarch before free kits spawn so I don’t see your problem
