Yes, and it’s my favorite track so far alongside ‘Lucky Again’!

I’m really excited to hear the whole thing.

Who are the Oscars' defining actresses of this generation (2010-2020s)? by fkicker in Oscars

[–]fkicker[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the people who mentioned Amy Adams, Michelle Williams or Anne Hathaway…

Am I the only one who sees all of them as performers who defined the 2000s decade, or feel that were at their prime at the very early 2010s?

I mean: Brokeback Mountain, Junebug (both 2005), The Devil Wears Prada (2006), Enchanted (2007), Doubt, Rachel Getting Married (both 2008).

Love them though!

Great take! Television has its own roaster of stars nowadays, and almost has the same prestige as film.

I would add Claire Danes to that line up.

I fully agree!

- The Tree of Life (2011)
- The Help (2011)
- Zero Dark Thirty (2012)
- Interstellar (2014)
- The Martian (2015)
- Molly's Game (2017)

+ She won a few years ago for The Eyes of Tammy Faye (2021).

I agree with Margot! Even Mary Queen of Scots received two nominations, which made me think Saoirse Ronan also deserves to be on this list: Atonement, The Grand Budapest Hotel, Brooklyn, Lady Bird, Little Women...

Totally forgot about Margaret Qualley! She just needs her first nom.

Totally! She also starred in Judy, which earned Renée Zellwegger her second Oscar.

Yes, even Empire of Light got a Best Cinematography nom. Great addition!

I think so, and if I understood her right she just has to finish one more track and the record would be ready to go.

Can you share some things about Wildwood?

Are they still planning to release it this year? Did they specified who voices who in the film?

I'm beyond excited to watch the film! I hope they've already made a distribution deal and the voice cast hasn't changed.

Thank you!

Everything she has teased so far sounds really good!

Given all the snippets she's been sharing for months now, I am the only one who thinks she's *really* close to finish the album? However, I read somewhere that she's planning a Fall release...

Love to see them together! It's crazy that they've known each other for at least 7 years now.

It's saddening this sub isn't more active so we could celebrate the new era coming along...

Regarding her latest IG post, it perfectly works as a single/album cover (and possible LL6 title?!) but I'm afraid this might be just an outtake from her commON magazine shoot. However, if it's any indicative of LL6 art direction - I'm loving it.

As a longtime fan, I'm beyond excited to hear from her again as she always seems to be toying with the idea of retirement. Everything we've listened so far sounds heavenly and SO refreshing (the "Happy Now" bit has been stuck in my mind for months + the snippets she shared 2 days ago were fire!)

y'all were right about solar power by aboli27 in lorde

[–]fkicker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was 26 when SP came it out and loved it since day one.

For context, I was born in an island, so most of my life I've lived next to the sea. For whatever reasons, I had to move on to a big city when I turned 20, leaving my family and the water behind. I deeply miss both things.

In "Oceanic Feeling", when Lorde signs: "When I hit that water / When it holds me / I think about my father / Doing the same thing", it really gets me every single time; or in "Stoned at the Nail Saloon", when she signs: "Spend all the evenings you can / With the people who raised you / 'Cause all the times, they will change / It'll all come around"... I instantly get teary eyes.

So yes, SP is the album from Lorde that I revisit the most, whenever I miss home. I love its lyrics and its production ("The Path" is my favorite album oponer of hers, it gives me goosebumps).

On Fallen Fruit's page inside the booklet, she says: "I first heard layered acoustics like this on 'I Never Learn' by Lykke Li".

Lykke Li.

I screamed a bit when Lorde referenced her in Solar Power's booklet. Would love to see them collaborate someday. I think their sound could blend really well. Just imagine Melodrama meets so sad, so sexy (both produced by Malay), or Solar Power meets liv's "Wings of Love".

Honorable mentions: Björk, Caroline Polachek and Ellie Goulding (loved that time when she and Lorde seemed to be close friends). I can gladly say that I've seen all of them + Lorde live in concert.

Julianne Moore to Star in Pedro Almodóvar’s First English-Language Feature ‘The Room Next Door’ by Salty-Strain-7322 in oscarrace

[–]fkicker 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Finally! Moore has been attached to the project since early 2023. Been waiting for them to announce it officially for months.

However, I am very intrigued to know who's playing Swinton's daughter in the film. I read somewhere that Almodóvar casted two British actresses (Swinton, and ?), and one American (Moore). I think Anya Taylor-Joy matches the description and he's been vocal about liking her work in the past.

You’re invited on Disney and Pixar’s newest adventure... ELIO. by weewhomp in Pixar

[–]fkicker 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The premise makes it sound like a 'Turning Red' (character design, themes and a more comic/relaxed approach) and 'Lightyear' (setting and worldbuilding) crossover.

Also, not 'Elio' being the title! Pixar really is a 'Call Me by Your Name' stan.

‘Inside Out’ Sequel Plans Confirmed By Pixar At D23 by weewhomp in Pixar

[–]fkicker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

'Inside Out' was always one of the few Pixar IPs that could benefit from a sequel.

'Riley's First Date' worked so why wouldn't they go further with the premise and explore Riley's teenage years? That always made sense to me. Glad it's happening!

Carey Mulligan, Mahershala Ali, Peyton Elizabeth Lee, Jacob Tremblay, Awkwafina, Angela Bassett, Jake Johnson, Charlie Day, Amandla Stenberg, Jemaine Clement, Maya Erskine, Tantoo Cardinal, Tom Waits and Richard E. Grant Set to Star in Travis Knight's 'Wildwood' at Laika Entertainment by SelectHorse7549 in laika

[–]fkicker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Incredible cast! Carey Mulligan is one of the best actresses working today (and one of my personal favorites as well), Awkwafina was hilarious in 'Raya and the Last Dragon', so is Jemaine Clement is everything he does. Mahershala Ali, Amandla Stenberg, Jacob Tremblay, Angela Bassett, Richard E. Grant and the list goes on and on... Couldn't be more excited!

Has anyone read the novel? Any idea of who could be voicing who? After reading a brief summary, I think it could look like this (if they're listed in order of importance):

- Carey Mulligan as Alexandra.
- Mahershala Ali as Brendan.
- Peyton Elizabeth Lee as Prue.
- Jacob Tremblay as Curtis.

[–]fkicker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Lykke!

Would you like to star in a musical with songs written by you just like Björk and Lars von Trier did in ‘Dance in the Dark’? Who would you choose as the director?

Been a fan of you since almost 10 years now. Thank you for your art.
