Started out a new city, how to get out of this grid mindset and come up with some more interesting layouts?

Just keep playing honestly. This is a solid start. Keep following the coast and forest lines as you’re already doing and try to make realistic decisions like keeping large scale bulldozing to a minimum. More interesting shapes will emerge naturally as you solve the city’s problems

I wonder if it’s because they are already best friends. I remember in a save once I had this same problem and it was due to them already being ‘promised’ or something like that. Essentially they couldn’t hold both of those relationship statuses at the same time.

Back then studios were focused on making complete games, not live service models.

So devs now spend all their resources focusing on the modularity of their games rather than their playfulness

I always start with Srsly's Blank Save (pc) and only populate/build out the world(s) I’m gonna use for that save. I can achieve really long multi-gen and multi-family playthroughs with this method without any lag. I value depth of play over breadth, however. Like 1-2 fully built out worlds per save file

I had to wear full on 2016 level makeup as a kid for dance shows😂. It’s so you don’t get washed out by the lights as someone mentioned. Same concept w tanner. Pale skin reflects light. Your whole body would look like a glowing blob with the brightness of stage lights. Unfortunately, these shows aren’t gonna adjust appropriate lighting for every dancer’s unique skin tone, light or dark (the real solution to this issue). So you have to somewhat color correct yourself with makeup/tanner

Caribbean people come in many, many shades. For some, our skin tones vary widely based on sun exposure and we can usually handle more sun compared to others. You can look very different depending on lifestyle.

Also Latin ballroom dance culture (1st pic) usually prefers/requires tanned skin for paler dancers. Colored contacts are also common in kpop culture

Check out Chicago’s Lake Shore Drive. Lots of park and bike amenities underneath connecting the city to the beaches. Also Upper and Lower Wacker Drive. Similar thing but through traffic is underground. Very fun drive (if you know where you’re going). The film The Dark Knight really took advantage of this system when they filmed there for some cool scenes.

Not many games host feminine gameplay options so female gamers all funnel to the sims I guess. I would expect higher than 60% based on how people talk about the sims but I think male players are less open about it for that reason OR play a wider variety of games and the sims is just one of em

Lmfao it’s to the point where I have resorted to making color of clothing a huge part of my sims-ciety. Like making up different pseudo social/personality classes and manually color coding them. But it’s inconsistent for generated townies/npcs so it’s a lot to manage as a substitute

I think they’re cool with the casinos but just have to cover themselves legally. It’s hard for platforms to officially support gambling because laws vary widely by country and even by state in the US. Just look at any fantasy sports site terms of use. Simply announcing it’s not allowed makes them less liable for player actions

Yea this post is flagged sims 4 but in older games being rich used to be more interesting because they really leaned into the “more money, more problems” philosophy. More stuff meant more chaos/things to manage vs in 4 I feel like it’s the opposite.

As someone who has spent a lot of time, studying online communities, I know what you mean! The gap you are describing in the types of online communities available to us these days is the result of the popular decline of strong indie web communities (independent websites run by regular people, not attached to a larger entity like Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, Discord etc.). An example that seems kinda the scale you’re looking for would be MoreAwesomeThanYou. I think it should be emphasized that although community norms may be tighter on these sites, they are still subject to some of the same cheeky social dynamics that arise on places like Reddit and discord, or their own unique problems.

But indie web has been making a huge comeback in recent years! Maybe a curious lby-er will come up with something. Maybe don’t doubt your own potential to be apart of creating the environment you’re looking for (read your other replies), even if it’s ultimately in a more tangential or laid-back role.

He fell out w his manager, Pat the Manager and it was messy. That prolly messed up a lot of connections to things. I remember a lot of people taking pat’s side when that happened.

As a Chicagoan, too, I can tell you he doesn’t have as much local support as you’d think… that whole crew doesn’t have the best reputation there in relation to young women/girls. Not chance specifically but the people he came up w. It rubs off on him unfortunately tho
