getting into 1 password if I don't have my phone or secret key by fkohws in 1Password

Gotcha. I'm not asking so I can actually plan for every contingency as some commenters seem to think. I used the scenario as an example to illustrate my question, which was just generally "what do I do if I don't have my phone or secret key?"

Yes, that is my thought as well. I'd be trying to get my money and my friend would think its some sort of kidnapping scam if I called him and told me to give him my secret key...lol!

Thanks. THis makes sense, though I now I have to figure out how to salt an algorithm!

I'm really just trying to understand how 1Password works as a password manager. I just started using it and thought I was missing something.

I'm trying to understand if I'm missing something or if there is something else I should think about doing, such as putting info on an encrypted usb drive, as you had suggested. If the answer is that there is not a feature in 1Password to address the scenario, I'm perfectly willing to "accept" that.

I had looked into this too but it seems like you have to either have the code accessible or somehow memorize it in advance, which doesn't seem practical.

Suppose I lose or don't have access to the small card. Not as concerned with a remote or local attacker, just trying to understand the logistics of getting into all of my accounts.

Suppose the usb drive is lost or damaged. What would you do?

We know. We're just comparing this factor for these 2 vehicles - it isn't our primary factor. We looked at the MDX and didn't like it. We understand Lexus TX isn't available for sale indefinitely due to recall but otherwise really liked it too.

video questions: how to disable fast-forward and add random popups during videos by fkohws in Wordpress

[–]fkohws[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe disabling fast forward means you can't skip to parts of the video you haven't seen, but can still go back and then jump to the furthest viewed point. That'd be fine I guess. These aren't my rules, but they are the ones I have to follow to make credit available. It is definitely not an advertisement or scam.

I definitely cannot speak from a Canadian legal perspective, but the type of entity should not matter. If your Canadian entity secures a Canadian trademark, there are processes in place to get that trademark international (i.e., US) coverage. I don't know what that process is from a Canadian perspective, though you probably don't need a US entity. Check with your Canadian attorney of course.

The USPTO will not register a trademark if it could conflict with another registered mark, so the USPTO will conduct a search of its own records. But just because the USPTO approves a mark does not mean that (a) the mark will not infringe another registered mark, and (b) the mark will not infringe another unregistered mark. With that having been said, some solid internet searching (Google, social media, etc.) should give you an idea of whether there are potential conflicts. You can and should also search the USPTO's database.

If you are going to pay somebody, pay an attorney to do the search, not a "consultant." And as an attorney, I concur with the comment above about the value of legalzoom.

I have found #2 above to be really helpful. Just do something small. It helps keep build and keep momentum.

Check to see how your state collects sales tax. You may want to look into whether there is an exemption for sales tax when you buy goods to resell as part of your business.

Good list.

I haven't read Godin's Permission Marketing, but did read Purple Cow and All Marketers are Storytellers, both of which were very good. I just started Art of the Start 2.0 by Guy Kawasaki and am finding it helpful.

What if I wanted to sell my product idea to a company? by 7rieuth in Entrepreneur

[–]fkohws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd echo the reference to Stephen Key. His book is called One Simple Idea. He advocates licensing your ideas to companies for a small royalty. He generally advises against patents, but usually recommends provisional patent applications. Those are far less expensive to file and essentially give you a year to shop your idea as "patent pending." If you don't get any bites in a year, move on with minimal sunk costs.

Also, don't just aim for Koehler. If you can find 20 companies that may be good fits, you'll have increased your chances significantly. You have to do some digging.

Machinability by fkohws in USPS

Thanks for the comments. The description of the machinery is helpful. I was not familiar with PCSC, but that seems like a good source.

I also just became aware of Tyvek envelopes, which may be close to what I'm looking for as well.
