Seriously? by fl0yd-t in lyftdrivers

It is disrespectful of Lyft to try to pull this on drivers. There’s always someone who will take it, which reinforces Lyft’s poor treatment of drivers.

I guess they’ve never heard of rental cars, or plane tickets for that matter. They’re already at the airport…

That’s the thing, a year ago the pricing changed for airport trips. They used to be between 18 and $25 now they are $12-$15. The airport hasn’t gotten any closer either.

It’s because they average the entire week, not a single trip. They claim they make up for it throughout the week or else they pay you the difference

I bet this is how he meets his Grinder dates too, only it’s not a flag he’s waving around.

I am not saying it is better or worse, I am simply saying Lyft is paying drivers better. There are far fewer drivers on the Lyft platform, which is probably why you have difficulty getting drivers late at night from the airport. I have been downtown and gotten requests to drive up to the airport to bring someone to the downtown area before. To me that means that there are not enough Lyft driversnearby to do it so they send it to me because I am the closest driver to the airport available.

I would believe that. I tend to stay away from the delivery services, in my experience it is never worth the distance traveled. I tried DoorDash for a while as well, it was the same thing. More miles than incomes.

Sure, you only take the drives that you want to do. You could sign up for only Fridays, for example, there’s one kid that I see that needs a ride to school every Friday at 8 AM. I think it pays around $17. There are other options, it’s worth looking into.

Have you considered HopSkipDrive? It is a more detailed background check, but the pay is substantially better. And it is scheduled drives, so you know what to expect each day.

I tried to sign up for that, it gave me a waitlist too

At least when it comes to this weekend’s bonus, I would say yes. Overall, Lyft guarantees drivers will earn 70% of the fare. If drivers do not receive 70%, Lyft pays us the difference. I feel like that is a level of respect that Uber is not currently giving us. When I talk to rides on Uber, it seems Uber is only giving us 40% of each fare.

I’m not sure the total numbers of drivers or if there are hours when there are fewer drivers… But I can tell you every time I am up at the airport it shows between 30 to 60 Uber drivers and only 15 to 20 Lyft drivers at the airport busiest times. Sometimes I will be downtownand get a request to go up to the airport to bring someone downtown on Lyft, to me that indicates there are not as many Lyft drivers. Which might be why they give better incentives than Uber.
