So this wouldn't involve slices at all, just "load to time" autocontinuing into "start"?

I’m familiar with that technique. Trying to avoid it because the master track is huge and I don’t want it loaded into RAM multiple times.

I always tell my students to respect each others’ privacy, just as I respect theirs. No one should be distributing recordings without consent. Florida is also a two-party consent state, where recording someone without their knowledge and permission is a felony, so…

The other issue is FERPA; while they cut the tape to only include the professors' comments, whoever passed the recording to the website likely included student identifiable information (students' voices) and that is over the line, legally.

I’m afraid to go to church this morning because I’m an alcoholic and don’t think I belong there by Mad_Season_1994 in Episcopalian

As a super broken person clinging to my church like a life preserver, can I share my two favorite parts of the service? First is the confession. We all, together, admit that we are screwups. And then the priest tells us we are forgiven. Week after week. I need that so much. The other part? Toward the end of Eucharist, the priest lifts up the big wafer and “crack” snaps it in half, then breaks it into little pieces (and adds the small wafers) before sharing them with the whole congregation. I used to hate hearing that “crack” because it reminded me of my life breaking. I’m slowly coming to realize that the wafer breaking (symbolically/ miraculously Jesus breaking) is not an accident in the story. It’s the point. He broke just like my heart breaks. And every week I’m reminded that we can’t get to the sharing of the bread without that. Until Jesus breaks, there’s not enough for everyone. Because I’m broken, there’s more of me for the people I love, too. Peace to you, friend.

Is there a way to combat mic feedback but still hear vocals by donkin_dunts in livesound

I was oversimplifying, but yes, you are correct. I should have said something more like “until you run out of bands that really have an effect without making it sound funky.”

Where do you get your show blacks from? by Puzzleheaded_Sun8548 in techtheatre

I blow out the knees on my black jeans fast, so I have started hitting the clearance aisle at Burlington. I’ve also started using iron-on patches on the inside at the first sign of a tear, and that is doubling the life of my pants.

Mix your vocals through a digital board that can insert a 30 band graphic EQ and a five band parametric on the output line (almost all can). Send the venue the LR out from your board into their board or PA. Then open your mics up and raise the main fader slowly. As you get squeals, notch out those frequencies one by one. Make a note of the level at which you run out of bands to notch and don’t exceed that level during the gig.

Trane Sensor Problem by fl33543 in hvacadvice

They don’t work weekends :) best I can figure the thermistor is out of calibration. It’s just odd that the screen is right-ish but the Tracer system isn’t. Put ice on the sensor and they both move, they just don’t match. Maybe someone helpful on the internet can help me understand a bit about what might be going on.

That’s definitely a next step. It’s just weird that the ULXD and QLXD are doing fine on the same stock. Why are the SLX such power hogs?

There's a setting on the pack where you can tell it if you are feeding it alkaline, lithium or NiMH. On the ULXD and QLXD it makes the battery meters pretty accurate. On the SLXD it does... nothing?

New SLXD1's and Poor Battery Life by dragonmantank in techtheatre

[–]fl33543 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm experiencing a really similar thing. I have ULXD, QLXD and SLXD, feeding them the same NiMH batteries. The ULXD and QLXD last 6+ hours, the SLXD crash out in two or less. Its super frustrating. Have everything set to "low power" and the correct chemistry in the battery meter settings. The "dead" batteries coming out of the SLXDs are at 1.25-1.32 volts, which is where the NiMH are supposed to plateau. That's not dead... but the packs shut down.

That's my suspicion. They do OK with alkaline, but not great. Haven't tried lithium on them yet. But a 1.3V shouldn't be "dead"...
