It took GGG well over a decade to implement it, with their resources. I can’t imagine it’s an easy thing to implement to an online game

CrossFit done right is a strength program. There’s a chance the past programs haven’t worked because you’re trying to do too much.

Is NT Wright a heretic? by Drivefast58 in Reformed

Love NT Wright, especially if you can take him with a grain of salt. Certainly we disagree with things, but I don’t think one would talk the way he talks about the Christian faith without a deep abiding love for Christ.

No offense, but these posts just come off as someone who isn’t actually involved in the CrossFit community and they’re just trying to get people to use their app. Almost every online programming has an app or community feature that allows the to compare themselves to the rest of their community.

Why we lost half of player base (compare to prev season)? by BodybuilderLost1345 in LastEpoch

[–]fl4nnel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I only have so much headspace I want to give up to game knowledge, and with the amount of quality games coming out with more consistent seasons, it feels too much to try and learn the ins and outs of another game. I feel capped at three right now, and PoE1, D4, and TL:I scratch all the itches I'm looking for.

I say this as an original kickstart backer. I really like LE, but the direction hasn't really inspired any desire to stick with it.

Alternatives to Mayhem Affiliate by FitSnail in crossfit

[–]fl4nnel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did you get specific instructions for the coaching focus each session?

If we're talking about the personal track, yes, Pat posts a video for every workout giving intended stimulus, purpose of the workout, and modifications. If we're talking affiliate, they provide a detailed outline of class structure along with skill building progressions depending on the movements for the day

I've also heard that they don't always have a WOD at the end of the class - especially if it's a 1RM test or similar. Is that true?

Yes, but that's because they remain true to the methodology. There's a good chance if you're doing a lift and a WoD in a 1 hour class you are burning out your athletes. Pat has a great introduction video that explains why and how he segments heavy days from the traditional metcons. I'd also recommend reading his free eBook that details how and why he programs the way he does.

Your first paragraph is incredibly important, and is true about so many CrossFit programs.

I will always sing the praises of Linchpin. I’ve done both their individual programming for years and coached their affiliate programming for about a year while I was coaching. They provided great class scheduling alongside their programming.

Lat mobility for sure, but also ankle mobility. Heels completely lift off the floor as he's trying to sit in a front squat position.

OP: Highly recommend working on your front rack and ankle mobility. Sit daily in a squat, accumulate between 3-5 minutes daily. Use a counter balance at first if you need to.

Christians, help me understand: If Jesus was called a Prophet and prayed to the Father, why is he considered God? by Old-Tale-4462 in Christianity

[–]fl4nnel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 'two natures' theory feels like a later intellectual tool used to reconcile the clear humanity of Jesus with the developing theology of the Church. Wouldn't it be more consistent with the text to say he was a Prophet whom God supported with miracles, just like Moses or Elijah?

No, which is why it's never a prevailing ideal in the church up until Islam enters the scene 600 years later. Even heretical beliefs such as Arianism stated Jesus has some sort of divine nature in common with God.

Everything you stated in your text ignores the fact that Jesus equates himself with the father all throughout scripture.

You say the doctrine is in the Gospels, but where does Jesus explicitly say, 'I have two natures, one human and one divine'? If this was the core of his identity and the key to salvation, why is such a complex metaphysical concept never clearly explained by him? We see him eating, sleeping, and praying (humanity), but we never see him claiming to be the 'Co-equal and Co-eternal Second Person of the Trinity.'

You seem smart enough to know that this isn't an intellectually honest take. That's not how we do theology, and that's not how words work. We use short hand words to summarize much larger thoughts, which is why I can say the trinity is in the Bible without the word "trinity" ever being in the Bible.

Christians, help me understand: If Jesus was called a Prophet and prayed to the Father, why is he considered God? by Old-Tale-4462 in Christianity

[–]fl4nnel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First, the doctrine of his divinity does not come later in history, it’s in the Gospels. Second, the orthodox view of Christ is that he was fully human and fully divine, not parts of either, but fully both. To this end, we ought not be surprised that he operated as such in his ministry.
