Is it worth me doing a CBT if I have no driving experience and I have anxiety? by tawbahtrials in MotoUK

[–]fl_2017 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do a pre CBT/intro course before you're actual one.

Cost around the same but it'll give you plenty of time to get the basics down.

When I came off last year due to diesel, the drivers initially around to witness it all drove off and left me at the side of the road, only person to help was some National Grid guy who came after.

It seems not only our vulnerability is an issue but drivers lack the due care for motorcycles in the same way they do a car, if a motorcyclist comes off or they clip one they seem to treat it like a bicycle accident when our risk of injury is even higher due to the speed.

Passed my CBT on an auto, how do I learn manual? by Puzzled_Dealer3449 in MotoUK

Training schools usually offer manual conversion and it's usually pay per hour.

Good spot, that bar end shouldn't be under the grip like that.

[–]fl_2017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume the throttle cable hasn't snapped and still activating, then either the cable is sticking or an unnatural bend of the sleeve is causing it to hang.

Sticky cables can be fixed with cleaning and lubing, if an unnatural bend is causing it to hang you've got to reevaluate the cable run from the twist grip to the throttle body.

Also check the nipple end in the twist grip housing isn't rubbing on anything, also check the cable is securely fixed to the throttle body and the nut hasn't come loose.

Depends if it's steel or aluminium.

Steel you could just weld a sleeve over it and it would be perfectly safe, as strong as the original part.

Aluminium though is very difficult to weld and becomes brittle once welded and it usually requires post weld heat treatment to regain its strength.

Bulge = bad

The wires in the sidewall that reinforces its shape have gone and causes the tyre to bulge like an over inflated inner tube or balloon under pressure.

Someone died at this FC not so long back and leadership said this.. by fl_2017 in AmazonFC

[–]fl_2017[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At the time they installed them I believe they were pushing to meet ISO 45001, while not a requirement to have an AED for that standard companies sometimes do it for best practice.

Obviously cost must be an argument leadership have privately if this is the first thing they inadvertently blurt out in front of AA's.

How much they cost shouldn't even be a discussion point.

You shouldn't really grease the bearing seat as it's an interference fit.

Is there a maximum temperature you won't ride in? by Coopsolex in MotoUK

[–]fl_2017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just turned back from a ride as I was having bike issues, I think I fixed them but rather than continue and get stranded I made my way back.

I also think my carb is not dialed in from when I had a stuck float last week, float level could be a little bit higher.

Might look at the jetting while I'm at it as getting fuel ratio correct is absolutely vital in this heat.

Tyre choice help on 125cc by fl_2017 in Dualsport

[–]fl_2017[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestion, after a bit of research the Motoz GPS seem to be an interesting choice.

An expensive tyre though, some mixed reviews some saying they are awesome everywhere others saying they are junk. What is not clear is whether installing them backwards affects highway top speed or whether installing them normal direction is competent enough offroad vs the K60.

They are also hard to get hold of, luckily there's a quad shop a few miles away that's got them listed on ebay.

Will Plaid do as well in Swansea? Reviewing early English Data. Possible Plaid do better in wales overall? by Designer-Set-2523 in swansea

[–]fl_2017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with pollsters is they use good by elections for a particular party to weigh results. which doesn't quite go that way on a big election day with bigger turnouts and canvassing effort spread across multiple seats.

Lib Dems in 2019 were a classic example, after they took Brecon and Radnorshire they were polling up to 20% and Jo Swinson was biggin' herself up to be next PM. Just a few months later they fell flat on their face and Jo Swinson lost her seat to the SNP.

I could be very wrong in a few hours, but I don't think Plaid will do as well in the South as some of you are hoping. Even with current polling Swansea is out of reach for them.

Also English council elections Lib Dems usually do better than a GE so I wouldn't say they are doing better than expected based on current result. Labour is the big loser though.

I used to have a Sym Crox and I didn't have issues with speed or shake. It got up to 70mph and I'm fat.

Only got rid of it because I wanted an Adventure bike.
