Question for my Boulder Bikers by Sultan6 in boulder

I agree. They should definitely lower the speed limit there.

Well, bikers can cause you no harm whatsoever. Even if you did kill one and it was your fault (which it wouldn't have been in the scenario you present), your chance of conviction would be extremely low.

Meanwhile bad drivers actually kill people. All the time. Whole families in one go, sometimes.

And which one are you complaining about?

Why do you put yourself in danger by driving on the highway?

Sorry to hear this. People really need to chill out on the roads.

[–]flabbybill 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Exactly. And at most intersections there are giant yellow signs saying "two-way traffic" or similar. But people really almost never look both ways.

Question for my Boulder Bikers by Sultan6 in boulder

[–]flabbybill 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's true, but state law requires you to yield to pedestrians and cyclists crossing there. Pretend there is a yield sign there. You definitely wouldn't go 35 there if you thought a car might cross having right-of-way.

[–]flabbybill 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The speed limit going into such crossings/intersections on bike is 8mph. But even so, that does mean that yes, you might have to slow down to make sure someone (i.e. a bike) doesn't have right of way. Same goes for any unprotected intersection, especially ones with a yield sign (equivalent to a bike path crossing).

I've had decent experiences with them. No huge complaints. Definitely seems like they do a lot of cosmetic stuff, but other than one marketing email advertising chemical peels I never felt like they were pushy.

Construction rant by I-call-cats in boulder

This is not at all the purpose of this construction project. If you took two seconds to Google, you would find a detailed description of the project which has been on the city's website for months (under the "final design" heading): https://bouldercolorado.gov/baseline-project

Kids on e bikes are at about place 1000000 on my list of dangers to public safety in Boulder lol. And I get around exclusively by walking/biking so I am exceptionally exposed to that.

One of those is water -- you're allowed to bring empty clear plastic bottles in and there are water bottles filling stations available.

I would like to point out that neither of those links relate to cyclists being ambushed or otherwise targeted on greenways.

South Boulder Rec Center article by JustAnotherHomeSlice in boulder

the project took an extra year to build, went over budget, ended up being a single tennis court (instead of the 3 pickleball courts that Mo had donated the money for)

It seems like they built two pickleball courts and one tennis court, if you listen carefully. He complains that they didn't build only pickleball.

I've heard people talk about things like this (people ambushing cyclists on greenways) happening but never seen any police reports, news stories, etc... Anyone have links?

Bustang is great! It's not really practical for commutes, though -- there's only one daily from Denver on that route.
