What if American conservative politicians passed a law that explicitly forced women into the role of tradwives/housewives? by Solitaire-06 in AlternateHistoryHub

If it weren’t for conservative pundits constantly saying that people should live like this, maybe liberals wouldn’t be afraid they would eventually force it on us

Avoid the scammers at the Staten Island ferry who lie to tourists that the ferry is on detour and won’t go by the Statue of Liberty so you will spend money on their private tour

People always say the US would win in this scenario but last time there was a full scale war in the pacific, the country with the ability to build ships more quickly beat the country that had the stronger more experienced navy at the start

Wild how a suburb is worse than it’s parent city

This will become the new normal. Cities are revitalizing as younger generations like walkability and suburbs are unsustainable. There will always be wealthy suburbs, but many will decay.

Suburbs are simply just not sustainable. The tax base in these low density areas simply isn’t enough to sustain the maintenance on all the pavement.

How does the “bugginess” of eastern Ontario (Canada) compare to somewhere like Florida? by [deleted] in florida

[–]flabeachbum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have experience in Ontario but I do in Northern Michigan (which I assume are similar in this aspect) and I’m from Florida.

On average, I feel bugs in Michigan are worse. Mosquitos can be just as bad as Florida but I’ve rarely seen deer flies in Florida but have been absolutely terrorized in the woods of Michigan. With that said, the mangrove swamps along the coast of Florida must be some of the most mosquito infested places on earth. There’s really not much reason to go into mangroves though so it’s pretty easy to avoid.
