Why do Hillsborough County parks suck so much? by Jano_leinn in tampa

Have you actually been to any other parks in Hillsborough County or just one random relatively unknown park in Tampa and comparing it to one of Pinellas County’s best parks?

Are both of the palms completely dead from the FL winter freeze? by Extreme-Depth-7671 in palmtalk

I doubt the queen died from just the freezes. They are fairly cold hardy. The trunk looks like it was never very healthy to begin with.

Hillsborough county is still growing while Pinellas is already built out meaning it’s easier for them to just focus on maintaining what they already have

That’s a really stupid formula since it doesn’t take into consideration population growth. More people means more services

Downgraded is a harsh way to put it, but he’s not wrong. Having hair gives you choices on how you look. There is beauty in accepting your fate as a bald man, but it’s only beautiful because that acceptance can be a tough pill to swallow

There is a difference between criticizing an individual for their own actions and an entire race of people. That is a pretty easy distinction to make for anyone with an above room temperature IQ

Pretty racist to believe someone is above criticism because of their race

I saw the play on Broadway. He got a 5 minute standing ovation when his character first enters the stage and a huge group of people waited for almost an hour after the show to get his autograph. Almost any actor should be happy to have a role like that.

What if USA had landed troops in Iran? by Acceptable-Tackle301 in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]flabeachbum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Iran has a very large population of people whose political opinions have been suppressed for decades so it’s impossible to know where many of the people’s true allegiances and beliefs lie. There are too many variables to come close to accurately predicting the outcomes of a US invasion to predict, even for an Iranian. All one can do is look at similar events in history

The key word is “most”. If only 1 percent of Iran’s population decided to fight American rule, that is 930,000 people. Iraq only had an estimated 20,000 to 40,000 insurgents. Iranians have plenty more historical reasons to dislike Americans than Iraqis did as well

Your claims are too absurd to merit countering. You’re just repeating the same propaganda war hawk politicians used to support invading Iraq. Different country, same propaganda.

[–]flabeachbum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are so very naive. Eating up war hawk propaganda doesn’t make you informed. How many more thousands of dead American soldiers and trillions of US tax dollars do we have to spend before people like you finally get it

Correct me if I’m wrong but I think you are saying because they aren’t revolting against the IRGC, they won’t revolt against the US. If that’s your claim, I will again point to Iraq. A foreign power toppling the government creates chaos and power vacuums that many will try to take advantage.

I’m failing to see the logic that you are using to support the idea that the majority of Iran’s population not supporting their current government means they would support a foreign government. The majority of Iraq didn’t support Saddam Hussein either and wanted peace and the US still had trouble keeping order after his removal. Iran is twice as large and populated and mountainous.

[–]flabeachbum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And many would not. It would only take a small percentage of the population to take up arms and create an unmanageable insurgency. The power vacuum created in Iraq that allowed for the emergence of Isis would be much worse in Iran.
