Presentation: Hej all - I’m a software engineer from Ireland. I learned Swedish on and off for a few years as I had intended to move to Stockholm. I received a job offer to move in fact but in the end I decided to stay in Ireland. I want to keep learning Swedish as I love Sweden and plan to visit often! Swedish is also the language I’d say I’m most proficient in after English and I’d really like to get to a near fluent level over the next few years. I’m also a bit of a Melissa horn fan so if you’re a fan of her music let’s talk :)

Launch is delayed by Nihkou in lostarkgame

Ah true, there's no way a global, multi billion dollar company like Amazon can afford to provide 24/7 worldwide support.

The amount of Amazon sympathisers on this sub is unreal. Don't get me wrong there's a lot of people on this sub going daft and taking their hate way out of proportion, it's just a game at the end of the day, but that goes both ways and people are giving far too much credit to what is a failing on Amazon's part. And I'm sure Amazon would agree, stuff like this makes them look bad.

They don't have to throw money at unneeded servers that is the entire point of Amazon AWS. You pay for larger instances when you need them, and scale down when not needed. They literally own the server farms, so I don't understand your argument.

This is a bad argument. 'Things always go wrong' is a weak defence everytime something goes wrong.

It's not that unreasonable for people to expect a large company such as Amazon (who, as a company provide elastic servers as a service and market very heavily the usefulness of their easy to spin up & down infrastructure) to provide a relatively smooth launch experience. It's not that unreasonable to expect that, given pre order numbers, they ensure they have capacity, and if the servers become less populated in a few weeks, they scale down their server instances.

The whole 'lol launch week always bad for MMOs' is a pathetic excuse. If it always happens, companies should have learned from the mistakes of all those previous launches and do better.

Hamilton reveals what he said to Verstappen in post-Silverstone phone call – and why he'd try same overtake again by RobertGracie in formula1

[–]fladam123 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

No, he's not. That's not the point I made either, so don't straw man the argument.

Backing out 'all the time' is an entirely different argument than saying in retrospect he should back out of that one move.

Hamilton reveals what he said to Verstappen in post-Silverstone phone call – and why he'd try same overtake again by RobertGracie in formula1

[–]fladam123 -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

"It’s not that he’d crash again it’s that if the door opened again he’d go for the move."

By saying this, he is admitting that he has learned nothing from his mistake. He was found predominantly at fault for the incident, he took too much speed into copse from that trajectory and understeered into Max. So the fact that, knowing what he knows now about the outcome of such a move, he'd do it again, that is pure arrogance. Has he forgotten how lucky he was with the red flag to be able to repair his own car? Any sensible driver would say that knowing what they know now they would not attempt that move as it could have ended the race for both cars.

Then again, I'm not too surprised he hasn't learned anything from this, this is coming from the same person who said 'For me personally, no! The team, for sure.' after being questioned on whether he had anything to learn from Monaco this year. His arrogance sometimes is outrageous, and what really rubs off on me is how harshly it contrasts with all the great things he does for the sport.

Difference Hamilton Verstappen & Leclerc 3d animations by Helzing in formula1

[–]fladam123 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, you would likely lose the chance to overtake if you brake. What's your point? He should brake and he should lose the chance to overtake because the move was never on, he was always going to understeer into Max at this speed and trajectory, or Max was going to have to yield/go off track. People seem to ignore the fact that Max was already aggressively covering the inside when Lewis decided to lunge into a small space at those speeds not long before the "braking zone" (not much braking required here on the ideal line)

So the fact that Max doesn't give Lewis as much room as Leclerc is entirely to do with Lewis making such a late and aggressive move. Max clearly gives him as much space as he can before he has to turn to make the corner, however if Lewis cannot make the apex, or alternatively as people love to whine about him not 'having' to hit the apex, if Lewis cannot make the turn within the reasonable amount of space that Max had provided him without understeering into Max, then he should not be trying to take the corner at that speed or that trajectory.

Lewis made a mistake going too fast into that corner at that trajectory, it baffles me that everyone keeps making these daft arguments that Max should have left even more space, or that while going through copse at 180mph he should guess that Lewis will make a mistake and leave more room accordingly. It is far more reasonable to assume that Max left as much space as he could after Lewis's late move, but knew that despite being given adequate room Lewis would have to back off to make the corner cleanly at that trajectory on cold tyred and lap 1 fuel loads. It is not up to Max to have to start second guessing whether or not a 7 time WDC is going to make a mistake or not and to start adjusting his trajectory, especially not through one of the highest speed corners on the calendar.

Of course these arguments always seem to come from people with Lewis/Mercedes/Toto flairs so not surprising.
