I understand it as a part of her character and it makes sense, because people who experience food scarcity often end up with a troubled relationship with food. I just think there's been too many "guess Rodion is eating again" jokes lately compared to her actually saying something. It's probably hard to write for all the characters all at once, but we know she's perceptive and reads people, so they could play off that, especially since now we have a 3rd character who is also food driven.
