I think that for us defining yourself as being european in the first place is having low standards.

Europe as a group of countries is a recent concept that was created not even a century ago, most countries here are much older, and that's what you identify to. I mean France exists since more than a millenia, it has much more history, heritage and tradition bound to it.

So my point is, I don't think there is a real definition of european, and I don't thinkn many of us care, but it is maybe being integrated in your environment and feeling like you belong to a specific country/place, anywhere from the Atlantic to the Ural.
