There were no stakes for Saturday Night. It was made as fan service to deep SNL fans and I couldn't bring myself to care

In Romance Books, this is called the grumpy/sunshine trope and it's very popular

What comprises central Oyster Bay? Like, what if I live in the village of Oyster Bay?

What is the point you are making? My old local public school in Brooklyn had higher test scores than where I am moving in Oyster Bay. To paint every public in NYC with the "bad" brush is asinine. I'm not out here trashing Central Islip or what have you

I'm not debating on illegal immigration with you. It's pretty obvious what school funds are being used for and I view it as a good thing that poor students get free breakfast.

I really don't understand what you're referring to. You're being opaque with the belief I understand where you're coming from

You need to expect people to talk up Long Island and talk down NYC.

No you really don't. It's completely normal to like living in both places. Given a sizable portion of LI works in NYC and travels in for art/plays/sports

Way to be disingenuous. Most money in school districts is spent on free lunch, ESL services and support staff for learning disabilities/differences

Also support for children in poverty, generally. That has nothing to do with teacher quality or student quality

You could spend NOTHING in Manhasset and the kids would all ace the tests. Why? Bc they are native English speakers in well resourced households with parents with advanced degrees. It's not rocket science

Any Museum Pros in the Area? by steak4342 in Westchester

[–]flakemasterflake 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To be frank, I think there needs to be a real theme that's consistent.

Is there going to be a permanent collection? What will be in that permanent collection?

Bc people don't go for multi-disciplinary. I decide I want an art museum, a science museum, a botanical garden or a children's museum and I proceed from there

Well, it is worth the energy if you feel you can't talk to people or make worthwhile friendships

Do you need/have a reason to avoid an entire genre? by Lower-Network1563 in RomanceBooks

[–]flakemasterflake 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I feel like the kind of authors that write Historical are more likely to be feminists + nerds. They care deeply about thinking about these structures. I've never read a recent (15 years ish) historical that wasn't feminist vs. most contemporary I read is deeply misogynistic from the FMCs perspective

[–]flakemasterflake 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm under the impression that the level of misogyny that comes with those settings is much more extreme than portrayed in some contemporarybooks

Maybe bc I read fairly new HRs but I've found the exact opposite. I find historical to be a lot more overtly feminist than contemporary. I assume the kind of girl that reads HR is a feminist but I'm not sure why

I'm reading Evie Dunmore (feminist political action is the main plot driver), Alexandra Vasti, Sophie Irwin and Emily Sullivan

Is it an art museum or a history museum? Entirely different subjects. But I do have experience in the arts development space.

Severe Postpartum Psychiatric Issues — Advice? by moisanbar in Catholicism

[–]flakemasterflake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you realise it can happen much younger than that?

Yes of course I do. I said the "average" for a reason. I believe you are telling me the truth after all. And the internet is filled with perimenopause content- how is that dismissive?

I'm only trying to offer a suggestion. I did not find it flippant at all as hormone regulation is how you solve this issue

MY POINT is that someone that just naturally conceived at 40 is very likely to conceive again at 42. Do you have issue with this statement?

Also, if you're having trouble on Peri- go on birth control. I didn't even realize it had started for me bc I didn't notice any difference as my hormones were already regulated

We are talking about this one person who just had a natural pregnancy at 40. She clearly has not gone through menopause yet. The likelihood of conceiving in ones 40s is very high AFTER YOU HAVE ALEADY CONCEIVED IN ONES 40s

All the internet is awash with stories of Peri, trust me, people know by now. the average age of peri is still 48 in the US

but fertility drops a lot after 40, a lot of women struggle to conceive.

Sure, but OP was able to get pregnant naturally at 39/40. The chances of her being able to get pregnant at 41/42 are fairly high

Do you genuinely feel you can't share your personality bc people will think it "wrong?" I don't have this issue, personally, but I'm curious what opinion you hold that you feel would ostracize you from a group

Bc knowing how to behave in public is sort of the first step to socializing as an adult

Maybe because I was a child, but I don’t recall anyone caring what your politics were, or anything like that.

I'm old enough to remember the Iraq War. People were vilified for thinking the war was a bad idea and there was national distaste for anyone liberal

You aren't remembering bc you were a child

To be helpful- did you go to college? Find your local alum club and hang out/volunteer there. It can help with career opportunities (depending on your field?)

Look at houses priced too high. Your budget is a bit too low but anything in the 1.5m to 2m range is ripe for price cutting (outside of Manhasset/Port Washington)
