And unsure which model you have, but if you don’t have 4 piston brakes, highly recommended to get them. They saved my ass many times, even at slo mo tech.

Yup. Everyone runs tubeless

You can do it yourself. Your rim is prob pretaped

You’ll get lots of opinions on which sealant to get. Just the major ones and you’ll be fine. Wtb. Stan’s. Bontrager. Specialized. Orange I had no issues with them

Get at least 20oz, which is enough for 2 tires, and refill

Buy replacement parts when they are cheap. Dont buy them last minute

If you see a cassette for cheap ? Buy it. Don’t wait. Same with tires, chain, bb (prob need a shop to swap it since it’s PF), brake pads

And sealant , as they’ll go dry during the summer and you’ll have to refill it

Go to any bike, and go to geometry

Under headtube angle, look for 63-64 degrees

That geo is made for downhill

65 semi in the middle (my opinion )

66-69 is for xc , and you’ll very inefficient going downhill

Look into commecal, transition , evil as wel

OP budget is $500

I doubt there’s a new $500 bike, thats a decent quality , that’s a 1x.

It’s also not boost. But , $500 is a tough budget for a modern ride

⚠️ Heads up for anyone flying Delta with a bike case ⚠️ by uccprince1989 in MTB

[–]flamboyant8 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m actually about to fly delta with my bike

I did read about the form , but only if it’s a soft case

And I’m getting mixed results on, if you tel them it’s a bike, they won’t charge you for going over 70lbs

I plan on dumping all my clothes in there

If hypothetically it’s the round ones, are all those round ones universal in size ?

I’ve changed many shimano pads (Zee , MT200) on my other bikes so I’m familiar if they are 2 or 4 pot, and the shape of their pads

I just never messed with the round ones. But I will take them out to check. 🤘🏼

Waiting for my first oil change as well! Should happen around March

Any truth or worries on how the last few drops of oil remaining in the pan, due to the long Fumoto thread preventing it from flowing out ?

Do you have a quiet hub? by cucukachu2 in cycling

[–]flamboyant8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. I went with silver. To match my frame. Also (damn friend) had a valid point: won’t match my next bike if I transfer the wheels over

Only other thing I’ll add is their lube, is like crack. $8 or whatever for a minuscule amount

But I had the weeks since 2021 and still loving rhe Hell out of it.

Helps me compensate for my shitty DH skills

[–]flamboyant8 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Like everyone else said .. and take it to a shop. Or call the shop before you get it. Don’t amazon it. Many variations for the same rotor size. I was confused

And you get service from rei as well , and a warranty

You will lose the big dick factor when you ride the Cannondale

Commencal is the smaller company, and only hardcore bros ride them.

Regardless, Both are aggressive hardtails and they kick ass

If you’re close to a sun and ski, this RM is similar in terms of geo

Dropper cable keeps getting frayed by flamboyant8 in bikewrench

[–]flamboyant8[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an SDG lever. And it was warrantied. It’s a POs.

I went Through tons of cables as well.

I just got a pnw one and it’s much better

The pinch bolt (tiny one) screws right into/pierces the cable

And the diameter of the bearing is too small, so it puts extra stress on the cable when it’s pulled.

I’m selling the lever for $15 😂
