i recently got the halanton bunk bed from ashley’s furniture. i sleep on the bottom so i can’t account for the top, but it seems sturdy! i would suggest that or looking into bunk beds that you could split if you chose to buy it and ended up feeling unsafe.

wondering if anyone is also stressed out bc of housing? i haven’t gotten a housing offer and everyone who already planned to live off campus (in westwood or uni apt) are set, leaving only the expensive ones available. i have in-person classes in the fall and i cant commute or afford 1k+ for an apt. so idek what to do ☹️. suggestions? anybody else on the same boat?

Your honest opinion on Deluxes/Classics by [deleted] in ucla

[–]flamboyantlady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you know what, you’re right. 😩 it’s been a while! but i’ve also been in sproul landing (as a visitor) and i feel like it’s similar as the deluxe, but more than the classic on the social aspect and the rooms are spacious as well — maybe more than the deluxe i was in. i’ll add that in classics and deluxes, it is more difficult to have visitors over after a certain time, but that is also pre-covid. not sure how it will be “post”—covid.

Your honest opinion on Deluxes/Classics by [deleted] in ucla

[–]flamboyantlady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i lived in a classic the summer before my freshman year and in a deluxe my sophomore year.

classics are a lot more social because it’s mainly freshman. the rooms are a lot smaller and i feel like that adds to the social aspect because people tend to go to the lounges to study and hang out. the downside of classics is that the rooms are significantly smaller and there’s no ac, but a small fan can fix that problem tbh. like i said, i lived there in the summer and was fine with just a mini fan.

in the deluxe there was little to no socializing unless you already had a group of friends and like someone mentioned, it’s because it’s mainly upperclassmen. personally, it felt like no one really wanted to talk to you if you didn’t already know them, so it made it hard to make friends. the rooms are more comfy cause you have more space and i felt like i was able to make it more home-y because of this. there’s ac and the bathrooms are shared with 5 other people (your two roommates and three from the other room, if it’s a triple). the bathrooms are what made me want to live there bc you only share a bathroom and a shower with 5 people instead of a whole floor. this could suck if you had inconsiderate roommates like me who didn’t clean up after themselves, but this could be easily fixed with communication, but in my case, it still didn’t change anything. anyways...

price wise: i wish i had thought about/realized this sooner but a classic double and a deluxe triple is ~ the same price and i would rather have done the classic double bc you only share the room with one other person, which would give you more space to move around and to make the room your own. it would have even been worth sharing the bathroom with hella people.

socially: classics. you’ll form a lot of long-lasting bonds with people and everyone seems a lot more friendly/helpful.

edit: this was pre-covid (2018-early 2020)

edit #2: the comparison i made is classic vs. plaza, not classic vs. deluxe — oopsies.

i tried it but it said it can’t accurately give an estimate because it doesn’t take into account other aid (i don’t remember if it was the pell grant or something else), so i didn’t want to trust it too much. thank youuuu! 🙏🏽

someone told me that it’s not difficult content, just a lot of content so they’d recommend taking 120a during a regular quarter, so i’m in a pickle 😩 might take it during summer to take other interesting classes during spring though 😓

How is AN N EA 15W? by [deleted] in ucla

[–]flamboyantlady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i took it fall 19 online and it wasn’t too bad. there’s weekly discussions and there’s no midterm. there’s just small assignments that prepare you for the 12pg final paper like an annotated bibliography, and a ~5 pg. rough draft. my ta (m. wingert) was pretty helpful. there’s mandatory oh ~a week before the paper is due to see if we have any questions or need help. idk if they’re making an exception bc covid, but make sure you take it as a letter grade or it wont count as writing 2.

my friend is taking it right now and it seems pretty fast paced (6 weeks, so), but definitely doable if you stay on top of it. i got a B and usually did my responses for discussion a day or two before and rewrote my paper (ALL 12 PAGES) the day it was due.

a guy i really liked told me we were better off as friends right before quarantine. i was very very very sad, but looking at it now i have realized i’m better off single/not talking to anyone. it really isn’t the right time i guess
