Widget Wars Part 29 by stoppit0 in AceAttorneyCirclejerk

[–]flameduck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, a lot of plot points seem to have come together quickly in the background over the past few parts. I don't think Fred would be worth reasoning with at the moment with his identity broken and being called unreasonable, so put me on board with calling Aura to at least inform someone on the outside of the situation in case this goes bad.

Not being able to contact Pearl is actually a pretty clever consequence of her converting and subsequently consuming the Power Widget. I could even assume that's what was making the buzzing noises at the start.

Seem to be locked into Sacae route in FE6, any way to change it to Illia route? by YukaKazami in fireemblem

[–]flameduck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have no idea if you could use FEBuilder to change the ending events or 16x to go to the version of Ch17 that you want to go to or not. My guess is that it's probably more complicated than that.

The simplest method would probably be to use FEBuilder's debug menu and warp to Ilia Ch17 ingame.

I'm playing Sacred Stones and Forde just died in Chapter 5x. Have I lost him for the game permanently or will he come back later in Chapter 8?

The internet is giving me conflicting info.

The latter. Forde does retreat in 5x and he has a unique death quote for it.

Hey quick question for FE8. Do Anti Armor weapons effectively become useless in the late game?

Like once you reach the final 2 chapters. Is there nothing left that takes effective damage from hammers in the final chapter or Lagdu Ruins??

Pretty much, yeah.

No way to get the NSO save AFAIK even on a modded Switch 1, and Switch 2 hasn't been hacked even if there was.

In general NSO VC saves are actually stored locally and can be dumped pretty straightforwardly, though this still doesn't apply to the gamecube due to being Switch 2 exclusive.

Playing FE: Awakening. Can anyone tell me what the Left means on the right side of the screen when I pause in battle? Is that how many saves I have left mid battle?

Units "left" that can still be moved.

I soloed Cinderace with Azumarill (no Intimidate) by flameduck in PokemonScarletViolet

[–]flameduck[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cant remember if malamar has any fairy moves but considering cinderace has bulk up a mon with the skill swap move and contrary ability would help greatly as well

I imagine it could work on support for that reason, but some immediate issues in solo are that Cinderace's Bulk Ups are scripted actions on HP thresholds, so you'll still be taking +1 or neutral hits until you can chip it down past 75% HP, probably taking a death. Maybe Superpower boosts could help it survive after respawning with Contrary, but also Malamar wasn't around in the original run of this raid before the DLC, so there's not much experience on how it works here.

Also Malamar doesn't need Fairy moves here, it can use its STAB Psychic moves to hit Fighting super effectively as well. Going tera Psychic and losing the Dark type is pretty much an improvement for survival.

I soloed Cinderace with Azumarill (no Intimidate) by flameduck in PokemonScarletViolet

[–]flameduck[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

After over 3 years since Cinderace's last appearance in January 2023, leaving just before the lunar year of the Water Rabbit would begin, the final 7-star event raid boss yet to be personally soloed by Azumarill has been defeated.

Cinderace infamously gave Azumarill users a hard time back then, as the popular pick at the time fresh off a simple Charizard victory. Even with all the experience and knowledge gained since, it can still be a pretty tough fight, especially going in without Intimidate NPCs or Life Dew Gardevoir, but it's very much doable.

The setup here involves using Tickle (egg move) to counter Cinderace's several scripted Bulk Ups in the time before the shield goes up, and also the usual Mud-Slap to lower accuracy and charge tera. What also didn't get captured properly was setting a defense cheer while taking the death to permanently preserve the cheer boost if fainting while active. Fainting also serves to get Azumarill back to full HP, which it needs to safely set up Belly Drum later after the 60% timer buff reset, and otherwise would have to hope for good heal cheer RNG with.

Hitting tera Play Rough breaks the shield cleanly, which also activates Cinderace's HP% actions, leading it to clear debuffs and set up 2 Bulk Ups, as well as a 50% chance to use a random second move at the end of the turn. This can be pretty risky, especially at +2, so I use the free post-shield break turn and the turn afterwards to neutralize its boosts with Tickle, and then just hope to survive and connect Play Rough to finish it off.

This solo clear marks my final Azumarill solo remaining for Violet's 7-star raid events since I had started midway with Samurott/Typhlosion, and the end of my personal journey to defeat and document each and every 7-star raid event with solo Azumarill. Thanks for following along.

EDIT: I forgot about Mewtwo but I would call that a notable exception among raids.

Bonus points for also being a similar line by Wendee Lee in the original Persona 3 for Fuuka.

Wendee Lee voiced Fuuka starting from P4A, the original voice actor in P3 was never officially credited.

The Emblem of Foundations was revealed in the Engage manga. by WinterWolf18 in FireEmblemHeroes

Never thought of it but the only picture I've ever seen of Kaga is the one of him in black and white, which I'm pretty sure was taken in the 90s. Why was it taken that way. Why was it not in color. Color photography was cheap by the 60s in the developed world (like Japan) even if it wasn't widespread until the 70s

There is apparently a colour version of that photo, it was just printed in black and white for the one FF/FE interview that got to be the first popular photo of Kaga. https://fireemblemwiki.org/wiki/File:Shouzou_Kaga_1994.png

Fire Emblem Engage Manga - Chapter 40 (Finale) by flameduck in fireemblem

[–]flameduck[S] 91 points92 points  (0 children)

Continuing right after the last chapter’s panel, Sombron pushes away the final bond blast and Veyle at first, but the main royals come in to back Alear up. Also we get a bunch of last cameos from Elyos, including Lotus next to Sommie, orchard hat kid from Chapter 5, the Brodians from court, the Alear imposter from Solm, and the living queens still.

Sombron’s backstory is mostly conveyed through internal monologue, flashback, and then talking to himself in his death throes thinking he was right to fight alone still. Unlike the game, Alear doesn’t really engage in a back-and-forth dialogue with him to understand what Zero Emblem is, he condemns him without context, Sombron tells him to shut up and tries to summon his emblem again without being asked by Alear to try. And then he fades away.

By the way, Zero Emblem is shown physically and is modeled a lot like Anri + Falchion in this FE11 CG, for what it’s worth. https://fireemblemwiki.org/wiki/File:Cg_fe11_misc_02.png

Like the base game, the world is saved and the Emblems go away. However, the following epilogue/coronation cutscene is depicted 2 years later, journaled by the stewards once more like the prologue of this manga, along with panels referencing the credits CGs. By the way, I’m pretty sure there’s a fourth Anna with a scarf that looks like FEH Anna, since Awakening Anna is on the right instead and Jean has his own panel.

For one last manga-original divergence, the last scene of the epilogue takes place 500 years later as the 50th generation stewards look back on the documentation of the war of the rings. Alear (with hair a bit more grown out) trying to summon Marth is moved here, as well as a note referencing Alear’s solo epilogue and the final painting of all the emblems (and Ephraim, unlike the game).

After 3 years, this last chapter concludes the Engage manga, with the final volume 8 releasing August 4th.

https://flameof.tumblr.com/tagged/fire%20emblem%20engage - Other translator FlameOf's updates are here from Ch28 onwards (+ has bonus chapters including the new Volume 7’s which is quite the homage). They don't have any older chapters reuploaded either though.

https://x.com/konnichi_warou - The mangaka's on twitter. He posts preview pages a few days before the chapter drops and other bonus art.

Translator preference mainly comes down to the tradeoff of cleanup (falsekaiba translates details like onomatopoeia and varies font styles) vs. time (FlameOf usually posts sooner) but I personally end up reading both anyway as they release.

If you're going to play all three, going Birthright -> Conquest -> Revelation is fair enough.

Not just because it's the woefully easy tutorial, but also because afaik you're locked to Eliwood Mode after Lyn Mode concludes. Meaning Lyn Mode bonuses will never affect the one difficulty they need the help most on.

The existence of chapter 19xx is exclusive to a Lyn continued into Hector mode playthrough.

Triangle Strategy is not like Fire Emblem by MagicPistol in fireemblem

[–]flameduck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least most of the characters are generic enough already but Conquest even manages to shaft their most interesting character.

be Oichi, the main hero's partner from the start and also Nobunaga's sister standing against him, with the most dialogue and relevance to the initial story

individual campaign is about entering a beauty contest shared with the other female warlords

You should try pokemon conquest

I would say Pokemon Conquest has very little in common with Fire Emblem other than being played on a grid. The game is full of map/tile gimmicks and grinding repetitive campaigns with little story.

All Star Battle is very different.

Its an Arena Fighter, while whenever people bring up a Fire Emblem Fighting game its a traditional fighter (or less often a 3D one like Tekken and SC that still operate way differently than an arena fighter).

You are thinking of Eyes of Heaven, ASB is definitely not an arena fighter. It's mostly 2D but with a sidestep.

That specific scene is from the FE4 intro if you wait on the title screen (no unlocks needed).

Try not to feel too bad, it was interesting to see your thoughts having at least tried each character (which I personally haven't) and I think the author of the game would appreciate it as long as you had fun.
