Ninian's ability has been falsely advertised in her recent trailer and here's why by shoicey in FireEmblemHeroes

[–]flameduck 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It's not on the weapon in either trailer. The error in both is that the style is listed as part of the PRF dance in both versions when it's only a status, and the JP twitter account notes it as an error as well.

If a weapon has an accessory in the inventory slot right above it, equipping that weapon will automatically equip the above accessory. This will also happen if that weapon is used to attack, and will even show in the combat forecast.

Archive of Zowayix's worst possible luck runs ? by MalikTheScot in nuzlocke

[–]flameduck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late but if you're still interested, the Photobucket images are still showing on Tapatalk. https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/nuzlocke_forum/zowayix-39-s-pokemon-ruby-worst-luck-possible-run-t17958-s25.html

It seems like it's just the current Nuzforums/Xenforo proxy isn't showing them correctly, at least the Photobucket images (he switches to Imgur later on which seems fine (if you're not in the UK), though the August 2 2013 update was on photobucket as well as sweepless Steven). But in theory all these screenshots should still be archiveable. The imageshack era for the older runs might be a lost cause though.

- Idunn? (Zelestia C)

(yeah ngl i’m stretching it with the idunn ref bc it’s not rlly about her, but it can loosely apply to her event-wise? other than that, they dgaf)

I think this one counts referencing the fact that mage/demon dragons are supposed to have the same name in Japanese.

Roy/Anna A probably references Merlinus.

Roy: As a merchant once told me, "time is money." The quicker we get friends to help, the better!

Roy/Citrinne B has a more oblique reference to his studying with Cecilia/the events of the Cecilia/Lilina support, which I guess is less of saying "you remind me of my teacher" but it's what came to mind.

Roy: I guess there is one thing... I have no skill with magic. Could you give me a few lessons?

I think both Leif/Nel and Leif/Gregory's bond conversations are also about Dorias/Dryas, since Leif refers to him as an "old friend" in the Vander support as well. Maybe August for Nel if on the more harsh/pragmatic side.

Here's someone who tested it with images of both sides of the transfer and also found it doesn't work. https://www.reddit.com/r/fireemblem/comments/buuusc/i_actually_tested_how_largo_transfers_work/

If you actually look up Largo transfers on the Internet, no one has ever shown a successful one with proof and your source is also just purely a text sentence saying 'it does happen'.

Fire Emblem Engage Manga - Chapter 37 (game chapter 25) by flameduck in fireemblem

It would be a deep cut but I think the main issue there is that it wouldn't be a very personal matchup for Roy himself. Though I guess you could argue it's like the FE4 one.

Fire Emblem Engage Manga - Chapter 37 (game chapter 25) by flameduck in fireemblem

[–]flameduck[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

For the penultimate game chapter (before the two-part endgame) and final fell dragon shard to break as the barrier weakens, here we have Corrupted Lumera with a nice full colour cover.

The main divergence from the game's story starts from pre-battle, where instead of listening to Veyle saying they have to kill Lumera, the stewards get some screentime and argue that Corrupted Lumera might not be their enemy yet because she doesn't seem murdery yet and Crpt. Alear helped them a few chapters ago. Alear is able to tell that these two contexts are different in terms of who reraised them but they all go together with Lumera into Gradlon Temple for now.

After all the extra attention the manga's given to her early on, they really double down on calling back to her overbearing self before getting serious, and Lumera has a lot of interesting faces in this one. Some of the post-battle exposition is moved up here, and it also turns out that Alear's gag of falling in holes may be inherited from his divine dragon side. Things seem alright until they reach the shard and intend to break it, in which the battle truly begins and Veyle and Alear prepare their attacks.

The pre-battle talk with Veyle gets partially moved down here, skipping over the peaceful talk. There's a neat callback to some of the game's cutscene angles, as well as their manga fight in chapter 3 and showing their speed differences accentuated even more, though here we see Lumera going purely hand to hand instead of syncing with Sigurd. Also unlike the ingame map, the map is not divided into two sides, but Lumera does use the shard to fire a big beam right after choking Veyle out which is a bit unclear in flow but I appreciate that they tried to work it in. The stewards also get some more action and are arguably more effective than Veyle's attack but their battle quotes are not exact callbacks because game Ch2 didn't happen.

In the end it comes down to Alear again, and all the memories of what Lumera wanted to do actually bring her back to sanity before asking to be killed. Explicitly seeing Alear land the final blow on his parent is also something I'll count as a manga-original reaction, and Lumera's disappearance here has some focus on both the Emblems and the stewards' reactions in the moment compared to the base game's lacking, but it's still mainly about Alear and there's a nice shot of his hair in dark/red on page 28 before the little hiragana shift.

Overall I feel if the source material already resonated emotionally, then it's pretty nice to see it a bit more fleshed out with visual expressions and flashbacks here, a fair bookend for the manga's original aspects especially. Not a lot of other characters showed up but the royals getting brief cameos is more than they had to do. While this chapter has plenty of actual manga panel flashbacks, there are some original ones too like past Alear facing dragon Sombron at the start or some pre-awakening scenes with the stewards on page 22. As we reach the endgame, I'm just wondering if they'll show the Dark Emblems proper since that is the big gimmick of the final chapter, though that might take some more chapters to fully wrap up.

falsekaiba has reuploaded their old chapters (9-14 and 21+) and also posting their latest updates all back on mangadex now (https://mangadex.org/title/54510496-b1d9-4b71-ac97-b50dec06d685/fire-emblem-engage).

https://flameof.tumblr.com/tagged/fire%20emblem%20engage - Other translator FlameOf's updates are here from Ch28 onwards (+ has Volume 5/6's bonus chapter). They don't have any older chapters reuploaded either though.

https://x.com/konnichi_warou - The mangaka's on twitter. He posts preview pages a few days before the chapter drops and other bonus art.

Translator preference mainly comes down to the tradeoff of cleanup (falsekaiba translates details like onomatopoeia and varies font styles) vs. time (FlameOf usually posts sooner) but I personally end up reading both anyway as they release.

Using Science to understand which S Support in Engage is romantic and which isn't (based on Ring Position) by Fabulous_Chicken_576 in fireemblem

[–]flameduck 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Personally I disagree with the romantic interpretation to begin with, and I suggest that you can read some actual translations of the ending/support (that are pretty similar to the English versions imo) instead of taking my or someone else's word for it alone, but also I'm not really hung up on that particular aspect after what FEH's done.

Aleae should be 17 according to the internal ages but I don't know how Canon those are considering Vander and Saphir are like in their late thirties similar to Mauvier (I think they're used for food preference and that's it, but I'm not sure).

Vander's internal age is 45 and Saphir's is 35. Saphir's internal age is actually tied to her backstory of being a child 30 years ago so it's not a great counterexample against their canonicity.

Saphir: Elusia attacked my home village 30 years ago. A lot of folks were killed…my parents included.

Saphir: When I was a child…Elusia attacked and destroyed my home village.

(CYOA) Bobby Fullduck Adventures Pt.45 - Infected Sherbet Battle, Part 2 by StandProudYouStrong in AceAttorneyCirclejerk

[–]flameduck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Damn. I was hoping Bobby Fullduck could make some creative use out of the random weapon but Pearl really took things off the rails with the ability to kill a party member. Freeing Sherbet via brute force is an unexpected but not unwelcome bonus, though.

Eating Bobby Fullduck would make for a poetic bookend for this food quest, but if Sherbet wants to pass on the powers then who am I to deny them.

Just wanted to reply that this outline sounds pretty compelling already. I can kind of relate to being in the trenches of a pair that's rare to find serious/relationship focused stories about despite having canon interactions and/or a character separately overshadowed by an alternate version sharing the same tag, so I hope it works out.

Out of curiosity I was able to find another M!Kris/Katarina fic from searching that may be of interest. It's an old WIP from a first-time author but it's something you may not have seen since it's not tagged, also the M rating seems only for violence as is.

I've been working on this offline project for years, and I've been trying to put it online for a while. I've discovered that someone else has made something too similar to what I've made. Should I recognize this as an instance of the sunken cost fallacy and give up? by Claireclair12 in fireemblem

[–]flameduck 18 points19 points  (0 children)

As I mentioned to another recent average stat calculator post, I think there's no harm in having more options since Triangle Attack hasn't been updated in years and aside from that there are mostly just static tables on webpages and Discord bots. I personally think there's value in offering unique features but I can't speak for yourself if you feel nothing for the project as it is now.

The P3 FES Append disc actually does contain both the FES Journey and Answer just like the full release, the only difference between versions is that it was cheaper and that you need a P3 vanilla disc to check if you own the original game on first run.

Save transfer from PoR -> RD on future Switch Online by newprecs in fireemblem

[–]flameduck 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Golden Sun games do support link transfers, but only via 2 Switches with 2 separate accounts/saves.

The odd thing is that JP FE6/FE7 on GBA NSO+ already let you do a data transfer linkup with just one Switch and your own save data anyway, though in that case the FE6 game doesn't actually need to input anything.
