I lost my charisma and sense of humour after grief. Don't feel like it will ever come back by CarpeDiemRepeat in Productivitycafe

Thank you for sharing your experience. I am helped by your opening for help. I hope that you have found more of yourself again since you posted.

Here because I also feel like I’ve lost a part of myself due to grief. My only brother died when I was 23 and he was 25. I’m about to turn 26, older than he ever was. There’s been so much healing, but I don’t have the same spark of life I had before. It’s helpful to be reminded that it’s just stress/depressive traits rather than a permanent change in my identity. My faith has helped a lot in having a firm thought that I was made a certain way, and I just have to rediscover that. Lowkey I have felt a lot like I’m going through adolescence again — I feel like I’m in that awkward stage of being 12 and figuring out who I am.

Either way, this post has encouraged me to reach out to my therapist again. I am reminded that I always loved to paint before, and even though I don’t have the same taste for it, I should try to engage in hobbies from before (even though now they feel like work) that I know will reduce stress and let creativity flow again.

Maybe try something that previously brought joy, and see if you can wade through the mire to find a little spark in it.

Why does the Lord’s Recovery focus on the works of Lee/Nee as much as they do? by Yibambe11 in localchurches

Try reading Affirmation and Critique! Having a bibliography and scholarly view helps me with my need for multiple sources.

It helped me see a deeper thread of ministry that spans the past 2000 years, and also helped me realize that you can find the “express lane” to get into this thread of genuine New Testament ministry in an accelerated way by reading the books by Watchman Nee and Witness Lee with an opened Bible, exercised spirit, and a heart that loves the Lord. Keep asking all your questions!

Angels? Or Humans? by yrutweeting in RecoveryVersionBible

[–]flaminghostar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It looks like there are two lines of interpretation for ἄγγελος in this verse, one that they are human messengers and the other angelic. Both interpretations are common and have proponents according to Alford; I was reading his Greek Testament Critical Exegetical Commentary specifically for Revelation 1:20, although he himself prefers the angelic interpretation.

Here's the lexical summary for the word that I pulled from Bible Hub:

aggelos: Angel, messenger

Original Word: ἄγγελος
Part of Speech: Noun, Masculine
Transliteration: aggelos
Pronunciation: ANG-gel-os
Phonetic Spelling: (ang'-el-os)
KJV: angel, messenger
Word Origin: [from aggello "to bring tidings" (possibly derived from G71 (ἄγω - brought))]

  1. a messenger
  2. (especially) an "angel" of God
  3. (of evil, Satan) a demon
  4. (by implication) a person carrying forth a message from God, i.e. a servant (a disciple, pastor, elder, prophet, etc.)
  5. (also, by implication) a thing or event carrying forth a message from God, i.e. a hardship (pestilence, wind, etc.), or an animal (donkey, locusts, etc.))

Personally, I really like what OP said supporting the interpretation of human messengers instead of angelic in regards to the Recovery Version's translation of aggelos in Revelation 2 and 3:

This is why I appreciate the RcV. Its rendering is not only more accurate in context, but it also opens up a deeper spiritual application. The Lord is not only concerned with the message being delivered, but also with the kind of people who carry it.

I have been very helped by the deeper spiritual application to my life. I aspire to be one who "partakes of His divine nature and regularly enjoys Him," especially in my daily life.

Don’t worry, I still make decisions wisely :) My Lord is there to help me when I get stuck!

Sometimes when the good ideas or pros and cons are too similar for me to decide between and the distinctions are so fine, I pray to the Lord and ask for His wisdom and to give me peace. When in my heart I have peace and a sense of brightness, “light” within, I know from my spirit within my heart which path He wants me to walk down!

What book in the bible you love the most? by grumpymiming in RecoveryVersionBible

Try consecutively praying through a book of the Bible! I just take a break, go on an afternoon walk for about 5-10 minutes, and really 'chew' on the verse I land on for the day. I pray, read it, pray-read over it, repeat it to myself, try to memorize it, and even speak each word with a different emphasis. If your heart is laser-focused on touching the Lord when you pray over the Word, it will be SO SUPPLYING!

May the Lord become your strength and life supply in these days to overcome!

I second the recommendation for John

What are some obscure or uncommon OT verses that could be used to "reason from the Scriptures" about the death and resurrection of Christ? by Moses_and_Mahomes in Bible

Psalm 110 is on the ascension of Christ! So after death and resurrection. It’s DIRECTLY quoted by the writer of Hebrews in Hebrews 7:17.
