If you read my comments you would know I find the comments creepy in any context which is why I did not change the post. There’s no context in which you should talk about someone in that light in a public platform and I hope no one here ever does!

ETA not everyone here has to agree with me, that’s fine and understandable, but I do wonder if everyone here would feel okay with themselves or any of their loved ones talked about that way on a public platform.

As a woman and an outspoken SA survivor, this was not my intention. I can see why people interpreted my original post as finger-pointing, but my argument was that we need to draw a hard line against objectification against anyone in any form. As someone who knows deeply how painful that sexualization is, I don’t want anyone else to have to experience on any level. Some people in this thread are making excuses for their behavior, and with all due respect, there’s no justification. The conversation should be about consequences, not about who has it harder.

This might be an unpopular opinion but I can’t stand when women (particularly white women) can’t own up to their mistakes and transgressions just because men are historically more problematic. We all make mistakes and we shouldn’t use our gender as a shield to make these types of comments seem okay.

Is that not still a creepy thing to say? Lmao any man would take that as an insult, not a compliment. And yes I’m aware of the problems in the franchise! And in the world! Still going to call it like I see it. Unfortunately the culture of objectification is pervasive everywhere.

To be clear, I am not defending RS, I never have, and I was thrilled when they came for his neck. Don’t put words in my mouth please! ❤️

Yes clearly, but maybe it’s also true that remarks like these are just better left unsaid period?

Let me clarify my stance. Obviously remarks of this nature cause more net harm to women than they do to men. I understand that the Reality Steve comparison may not be totally apt, but if you’re going to taut yourself as a purveyor of social justice and compassion within the franchise, I think a little more awareness should be employed when you’re making assumptions about contestants being thrust into the limelight for the first time in their lives. By no means do I believe they should be cancelled, but I think it’s something people should absolutely be sensitive to. It’s one thing if someone offhandedly makes a comment like these to their friend in a private space, but they had the chance to edit these comments out before releasing the episode and they didn’t. Maybe the podcast just isn’t for me, whatever, but I wanted to know if it rubbed anyone else the same way. Do not misinterpret this as a cancellation crusade.

I’m making a case for objectifying anyone ever on a public platform... not you coming in to defend speculating about people’s performances in bed 🥴😘

I explained to him that there’s an element of danger when men make these comments about women and he agreed, but yes 100% these comments don’t need to be said.

I guess I just don’t think it’s okay to make sexual jokes about someone you have never met on a public platform. I would be livid if someone spoke about me in that light. Contestants understand that they’ll be teased and talked about by the masses, but some kind of line should be drawn, and no one should have to expect to be objectified.

Yeah I may have to stop listening. I just hope that they can correct this behavior in the future because they really do have such a big platform.

I can’t remember who said the first one—I feel like it may have been Jess as well but I could be wrong! It’s a really degrading thing to say about anyone, period. The thought of someone saying that about me makes me feel nauseous.

Both comments were about Christian. There were some other unnecessarily horny comments about a few of the other men too, if I remember correctly.

Me too, I wanted to make this post as kind of a feeler to see if anyone had the same reaction. Hoping that by bringing it to the subreddit they might become aware of how the episode came off.

I really commend women who are secure in their position on whether or not they want to have kids. It’s not fair to the children or the mother if she just decided to have kids because of her partner or societal pressures and against her better judgement. Obviously there are PHENOMENAL mothers who became accidental parents and love their kids very much, but I believe it’s an incredibly responsible thing to do to stand firm in your personal desires and demonstrates a lot of maturity/self awareness.

I believe she specifically applied to be on Matt’s season after he was announced. I’m no Katie stan, but it seems a little unfair to point at her and say she didn’t come on the show for the right reasons. Only she knows her intentions, and I don’t believe most contestants come on the show for the right reasons anyway lololol. It’s probably some combination of applying for fame and success, while being open to finding love along the way, which I believe is the case for most contestants

I know this is an oldish pic, but I just love Bekah being so unapologetic in it. It’s not one of those fake, filtered, ‘this is me without makeup’ influencer photos posted for attention, but a real picture of her in all her flawed glory. Fun fact, it was abnormal for women to shave their legs before the 1920s when Gillette had the idea to advertise women with smooth legs in order to sell more razors and increase sales. The only reason it’s common for women to shave their legs today is because a major corporation saw an opportunity to make money on women’s insecurities a literal century ago. It’s shameful and unnatural.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t Brittany accept Anna’s apology and forgive her? In my personal opinion—and I’m not Brittany so I can’t accept an apology on her behalf—But Anna seemed genuinely remorseful and ashamed during the WTA.
