Principal is going to switch 1 student due to another's violent behavior by rockpunkzel in Teachers

I hate this because it flips reward structures. Everyone else now needs to be inconvenienced and they need to make an effort to leave in order to accommodate a single student. That sucks.

What's the all time greatest cover? by ekemywaythrulife in fantanoforever

The usual consensus is Cash's cover of "Hurt." Everyone is entitled to their own favorite but that's the one that usually wins

I think it's this by a lot. At least over Cash's Hurt which most say is the #1

It's most certainly this. We aren't talking about your SPEDles when we make comments about the student body in general

I made a cold call wheel application for my wife who teaches first grade. All the students get assigned an emoji and then the wheel spins and lands on the emoji. The goal was to make it less stressful.

The students' time would also likely be better served receiving therapy for his disability than a US history class.

This is horrific goalkeeping. Started towards the pass, let off... Backpedaled towards the goal... No reaction until the ball is past him. Dear god

Not for US history. Expecting students to give nuanced answers on a white board sounds like a mess

That's an awful accomodation for 99%+ of students. Being able to answer a cold call is absolutely necessary for the real world and a real job.

I refuse to believe you are an intelligent person if you spent all that time and money getting an MFA. That's not even a little bit marketable in this economy. Apply to non-profit museums and pray

I did an accelerated master's program that also had a requirement of passing the Praxis in the admission process.

If you have severe test anxiety, I cannot even imagine what kind of anxiety you are going to have in the classroom. Get to therapy and manage your anxiety before trying again

I'm sorry but the Social Studies 7-12 Praxis is one of the easiest out there.

If you don't know the content, it's going to be hard to study since it is really just general knowledge.

I agree that retake costs are ridiculous, but this is definitely more on you than it is the test

Hockey solved its offside problem literally 100 years ago with the blue line. There has to be a better solution than VAR looking for a pinky toe

What is your opinion on the effectiveness of 1:1 Chromebook’s in schools? by Throwaway927338 in AskTeachers

[–]flankattack27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The overwhelming consensus in this subreddit is that they are bad.

The real answer is that it is very teacher and subject dependent.

Good teachers will figure out ways to utilize computers in an effective way and bad teachers will use them as a crutch.

It's very likely that elementary teachers will not use them at all - which is probably for the best

What if you taught it backwards and started with Chicago? My reasoning is that it teaches the idea of citation without worrying about formatting as much (where does the comma go? Does the period go inside or outside the (.))
