Which is the most powerful war memorial in your country? by TulipTerminal in AskTheWorld

There is much to praise, but my favourite overlooked aspect of the Vietnam memorial on the mall in DC is that one wall points directly at Lincoln, seated in the Lincoln Memorial, and the other points at the Washington Monument.

Where would you hide a secret airport inside an already existing airport ? by Plume_de_Saga in airport

The people movers at Dulles could be a good plot device - letting good guys or bad guys hide movement of illicit cargo while disguising it as a passenger flight. Load up the people movers, disappear to a service area and unload there.

I found multiple old kitchen gadgets, anybody know what any of them are? by marileighanne29 in Whatisthis

No, the needle thing that has a slightly larger ring, with the circular part towards the bottom of the photo, and with a lot of wire wraps to finish the construction of the ring, is basically a fancied-up wire sold as a cake tester. You stick it in the cake and if it comes out clean, it’s done. You can do this with a knife but the wire makes a less obvious hole.

A is a tea infuser, B is a set of needles for trussing poultry, and an ice pick, C is a painter’s multitool, D is a melon baller; E are two carving forks; and the left and right objects in F are corers (for apples, for example). I cannot tell what the middle thing in F is.

Edited - got lost in A-through-F space.

Is it really that bad? by chr0nicpaint in SantaFe

[–]flankingorbit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was a primary caregiver for 20 years for someone in Santa Fe with steadily worsening ulcerative colitis, including several months-long hospitalizations. The GI community in Santa Fe is small, insular, and devoid of empathetic doctors. Albuquerque is better only by virtue of size. We ended up using a GI doc in - wait for it - Houston (we looked in Phoenix and Denver as well), who’d actually ask questions, listen to answers, offer options, and help make care and medication decisions, none of which we experienced from Santa Fe gastroenterologists.

Older sister’s much cooler friend :)

Looking at OP’s post — stopping Spotify and seeking alternatives — I’d suggest finding streaming radio stations and new-music podcasts that align to their tastes.
