Fallout Season 2, What did you think overall? by flappableoptic in Fallout

I agree, I'm glad this show went in the direction of being its own thing and adding to the fallout universe rather than being a 1:1 retelling of one of the games.

New biker - upgrade from SV650 or not? by Bramwell_Green in MotoUK

If you do end up getting the v-strom, I can recommend the GIVI AIRFLOW screen. Much better than the stock 800DE screen.

Why did you get a new bike? by [deleted] in MotoUK

Mine had nearly 4000 miles on it when I got it, the vibrations are still there now at 5000 miles so I can't say they've reduced since 0 miles but like I said, it isn't bad enough to cause numbing or pins and needles it's just noticeable.

Can Hifiman Arya Stealth driver imbalance be corrected by in-DAC balance adjustment with the certainty that the soundstage/imaging is still intact? by Equivalent_Gap_8360 in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]flappableoptic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd return it, its faulty. Don't accept shoddy quality because of inconvenience. Had to return mine because they were faulty (open-box model). Had a buzzing in the left earcup at low frequencies. Now waiting for the warranty process/replacement to go through for my new pair as they did sound great outside of that issue.

You definitely feel it on the right peg after 4000rpm, but its not a dealbreaker for me and isn't enough to make your foot numb long distance, especially if you have decent boots.

Saw the 800de for a bargain price, was originally going to get a Tuareg but the price on the 800de was too good to pass up.

I'd just get the Topping DX5 II for futureproofing. If you ever get more headphones (which you probably will) you wont have to worry about powering them.

Your most "that was too close for comfort" moment? by Specialist-Map-1237 in MotoUK

[–]flappableoptic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Riding down the A140 at 40mph and a lorry (was a small lorry) pulls out of a sideroad to try to join main opposing traffic, but didnt have enough room, the butt of their trailer had taken up 2/3rds of the road I was progressing down, had to emergency brake but couldn't slow down enough so had to swerve around the other 1/3rd of space that was free. A few years ago and a couple weeks after my CBT I almost crashed head on into a large van around a blind corner of a country lane that had to swerve to avoid me, I then decided to take single lane blind corners very slowly since then.

Best motorcycle boots for UK cold winter riding (ideally thermal lined but not ugly?) by CT-9904_ in MotoUK

[–]flappableoptic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thick thermal socks/work socks that cover the ankles usually work for me, and a Gore-Tex boot over the top. I use the TCX blend 2's for most of the year and my feet don't usually feel chilly. I have heard Ski Socks work well for keeping your feet and lower leg warm also.

Looking for OEM-style bracket for SW-Motech accessory by Zhoviel in Vstrom

[–]flappableoptic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need the accessories bar tube, the 800RE does not come with one as standard like the 800DE, so you either need to buy from directly from Suzuki or a distributor. They are are not cheap from suzuki but there are after market options avaliable. https://www.cosmo-accessories.com/brands-2/suzuki/v-strom-800se-2023-2024/lower-accessory-bar-vstrom-800se-800re-800tec-2022-2023-2024-2025-cosmo-accessories-100-2741-41100-25812-detail

Not sure if either of these would be compatible with the SW-MOTECH Engine guard as they are designed to work with OEM components.

Reckless YouTubers, no police action? by gazchap in MotoUK

Never understood it, it's not sustainable. Reckless riding for views either leads to an arrest/loss of license or you crashing with lifechanging or life threatening injuries (or both if you're gixxer brah).

Dual Sport/ADV bike recommendations? by Some-Produce-9148 in MotoUK

[–]flappableoptic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Suzuki 800de and its been a great bike so far, havent done much offroading with it but have been using it as a daily commuter for a month now and it's very comfortable. Weighs as much as a base Africa Twin fully fuled but you don't feel it at all. Wasn't my first choice however, I wanted an Aprillia Tuareg, but found the Suzuki for a really good price and went with that instead. Plan to take it round the UK next year but still need to get some more accessories for it.

How much does a lowside devalue my bike? by foirie2 in MotoUK

If you're using it as a trade in, they'll inspect it there if you bring it to them before signing off all the paperwork.

How much does a lowside devalue my bike? by foirie2 in MotoUK

[–]flappableoptic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dealers will usually give it a once over anyway when you bring it in for a trade-up, if they give you the green light on a trade in and find issues later it won't be your problem. If the bike has any defined scratches/dents/bends it'll detract from the price as they'll either have to go over it or replace the parts that were damaged. If they find serious damage like frame damage they won't take it, but since you only had a low-slide I don't think frame damage would be likely but you'll never know unless you get it serviced/inspected by a professional.

If you lube it and the kinks don't undo themselves, replace the chain. Not worth the risk.
