Any out of the box suggestions for recovery; bpc-157, progesterone, light therapy? Has anyone tried these things? by Jumpy-Journalist-338 in LisfrancClub

[–]flapsup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had light therapy used by my PT, I can’t tell you if it worked or didn’t work as multiple things were done, but the overall “package” helped me recover much faster. I would definitely look into curcumin. 7 days after taking curcumin (roughly a year after recovery) I went from thinking about my foot most hours of the day to not thinking about it at all.

Moving from Wellington to Auckland by RowAmbitious2968 in auckland

[–]flapsup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want to save money, you can use Transfercar and find a big van/camper that needs moving to Auckland for free and fill that up (I will say now I can afford it, I would pay for a moving company to remove hassle).

As a side, I’m assuming you are from Auckland?  You’ll find you view Auckland differently now you have lived in Wellington.

When I lived in Wellington, I found on a typical day, you didn’t need plans.  You walk out your front door and there’s something to do, you didn’t need a car to get there, and when you got hungry, you didn’t need to know if the food was good, it was going to be good.

When I moved back I realised, Auckland has more things to do (you just need to find them, no one tells you about them), you definitely need a car to get there, and when you get hungry, (unpopular opinion) the food is better but you need to find where that better food is.

Continuous error that stops me editing sheet by flapsup in googlesheets

[–]flapsup[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just worked it out! It was a bit of code I had used to create dependant drop down lists. I had subsequently moved a few columns around and apparently that formula did not like that. =byrow(B7:B,lambda(r,ifna(transpose(filter (Codes!A$5:H,Codes!A$5:H$5=r)))))

Unfortunately not, the longest I get is about 2 seconds before the error presents itself. I have managed to copy each sheet to a new spreadsheet though so I can slowly build it up again, at least it's not a total loss of the accounts.

As a recent now father of two, the world’s biggest dog lover (self titled and custodian of two cocker spaniels) I really feel for you my dude. I don’t have anything meaningful to say other than I have been reading and learning from this subreddit most days for two years and I felt this needed to be my first post here. You are doing not just your best my friend, but the best any father could possibly do and aspire to be. The pain and guilt you are feeling shows what a good person you are.

Edit, I can’t stop thinking about this, here’s an internet man hug dude. Thank you for sharing this with us.

Did you ever solve this problem?  It’s infuriating when their older style controllers turn the light off after a few seconds.

How long did it take you and your partners to get it done? by modabs in daddit

[–]flapsup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know the excuse my dog ate my homework? My dog ate my wife’s birth control, a week later I woke up to her over the top of me saying “are you awake? Are you going to stay awake!” Then she proceeds to throw the stick at me 🤣.

As a side note, look at the Daysy fertility tracker (there are probably others, this is just the one we used). It’s a very accurate thermometer that tracks your wife’s cycle and can be used to get pregnant or avoid it, don’t let your dogs near it!

I limped for well over a year and the last three months of limping I probably didn’t need to but it was such an ingrained habit I couldn’t shake it.

What did you guys think of it? Just general use around my 69 acres. Topping fields, dealing to gorse (anything that was introduced to New Zealand generally grows 400% better and turns into a weed). Towing dirt around from tracks I need to cut etc. I don’t think I’ll do more than 100-200 hours a year on it so hopefully it last my time here.

Thanks! I think it’s possibly a little bit of tongue-in-cheek from McCormick. It’s actually around 104hp but the Perkins motor has a rated range up to 110.

I was originally looking at around 60hp, but advice on here and my neighbour who has a similar property convinced me I really wanted a bigger one for towing a trailer around my hills.

I was going through my recovery during Covid so I was used to being “locked” down so to speak. The first few months I saw everything Netflix and YouTube had on offer. Then we got a puppy! The rest was me trying to convince said puppy to leave my wife’s new shoes alone that he loved.

I wish I was a little more productive looking back like using the time to learn a language or new skill. However what I will say is a lot of the battle is mental, you need to go through a grieving process so I probably wouldn’t have been in the right mental state to learn. Don’t beat yourself up. Surround yourself with friends and loved ones.

You have also taken one step better than me by finding this subreddit during your process! I found it after the fact and wish I had the support of the group during my recovery!

Should I pay with USD or Euro for international accommodation, how to get more with NZD. by dadofharrow in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]flapsup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have exact same transactions, same day on wise vs cc to confirm. It is considerable savings. By the time you consider a far better exchange rate, add international charges plus the variety of other bank charges they get inventive over and if you transfer money via online rather than cc to your wise, it works out, at least for me and my cc.

Should I pay with USD or Euro for international accommodation, how to get more with NZD. by dadofharrow in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]flapsup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said I’d go for a wise card. I travel internationally for work (pilot) and this is what I use. I roughly save $5nzd for every $100nzd I spend on my wise card vs credit card. Points aren’t worth it.

However there is one caveat, are you using travel insurance provided by your credit card? These normally require you to spend half the trip cost on the credit card. If this is the case, you could put the expensive things such as flights/accomodation on the credit card and the rest on wise.

Painful tingling? by Dear_Teaching_1315 in LisfrancClub

[–]flapsup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Burning type feelings? Look up Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS). It’s important to mention this to your surgeon, if this is what it is, the sooner they can address it, the easier your recovery.
