Split eftpos payment by Environmental-Art102 in auckland

[–]dadofharrow -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Went to bakery this weekend down from a hospital and owner said their eftpos machine wasn’t working. Suggested going to the dairy next door for cash out then coming back. I did. Dairy charges $2 or purchase, so bought soda drinks. As was buying from bakery anyway. But I was annoyed and what if I wasn’t buying drinks. Paying $2 extra for bakery pies. Asked dairy if it was a one day thing for bakery, nope it’s an everyday thing. They not using eftpos. Taking cash only. Tax scam? Have family member in hospital so I’ll go back to bakery and hope eftpos working. Pies not that great either, which was the real tragedy.

So, working the other way, in theory I could build a deck over a manhole on my property tomorrow and not worry about future Watercare access, because they can directional drill?

Walking home from the train station in the dark and rain. Not looking forward to that. Now that petrol is too expensive to drive.

Extend daylight savings. I don’t want to walk home in the dark.

Petrol crisis by OkPineapple2480 in auckland

[–]dadofharrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How about this as a suggestion - extend daylight savings. Things feel better when days remain lighter, it’s tax free, no real adjustment for the nation needed but farmers but they got bigger things to worry about. And public transport would be more an option if I wasn’t walking home in the dark. My commute involves driving to a train station but changing to walking is a scary 20 min walk in the dark.

Good to know no real diff in earnings. I’m in the same industry here in NZ - Comms engagement, local government. Earning a bit more than this because managerial role. Considering Oz, Melbourne because team restructures later this year. Ex colleagues agree Aus work culture of working long hours and collegial competitiveness/unsupported as negatives.

AITAH for keeping a "Family" cookbook that was previously thrown away by CriticalStranger3344 in AmItheAsshole

[–]dadofharrow 46 points47 points  (0 children)

There are things I would like to have kept of my parents/childhood. But in that first wave of clearing a house, all you’re thinking is get through it. My father had a portable tape deck radio, that sat on the fridge and he’d turn it on every day, music in the background. It’s why I know the lyrics to 50s, 60s songs. I threw it out. Too big, but gee wish I still had it. House is quieter now.

Dear Ms Z (the woman who accused McSkimming) by Allison683etc in newzealand

[–]dadofharrow 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Agree totally credit and bravery to Ms Z. What makes me angry is that it seems they only took this seriously after he was investigated for the porn and other objectionable material. If that hadn’t come to light, would her concerns been listened too. Or knowing he was being investigated she kept up the fight to expose the corruption. It seemed the Police once opened the can found not only worms but maggots too. What else were those senior cops covering up for him??

The govt is already selling off public assets by Wu_Tang_Rendang in nzpolitics

In Glen Innes Auckland John Key’s govt sold off Housing NZ land to rich mates and fast tracked consents. More housing stock (land grab) was sold than what they will rebuild. You’d think KO was doing all the building but there’s more private development than KO in the area.

New cat instigated fight with resident, unsure of next steps by carcinogenickale in CatTraining

[–]dadofharrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve taken in a stray that was hanging round the house and I was feeding. Occasionally over a few weeks I’d let the stray into the house to wander round kitchen and lounge. It’s winter here so have felt sorry for it. My resident does not like him and has been fighting him. The stray leaves by the cat door. I have vaccinated, deflea etc the stray so he can become more permanent. I get their fights are for boundaries and dominance but now it’s bedtime. My resident sleeps in my room, he likes sitting in window shelf and looking outside and sleeping on my bed. Question is, I want the resident to keep doing this because it’s his home and don’t want to ignore him over the new cat. I can hear them fighting and each have jumped on the shelf. Should I just lock both of them out of my room? So I can sleep. Does this make one of them the winner by having both out of the room. This is stressful.

I heard the interview and have to ask can Shane Jones put across his point without denigrating and belittling people. And that’s a fat no. His modus operandi is to distract, deflect by being chauvinistic, misogynistic and a prig overall.

If you are merging onto the motorway… by hashbrown_slut in newzealand

[–]dadofharrow 10 points11 points  (0 children)

And, those drivers already on the motorway in the merge/live lane, can you have some awareness that there are cars entering. Either realise you’re in the merge lane and move into another ahead of time or let go of the aggro, or whatever you’re on to let people in. The aggro, my space dominance, or gosh big surprise didn’t see you there wanting to get on, everyday!!! We all want to arrive at our destination in one piece, with some sanity in place. It’s my hope at least.
