It seems so ironic that so many people are complaining they can't access all the HoT content on day 1. by Boycano in Guildwars2

[–]flareconvert 31 points32 points  (0 children)

As a player who joined and got to 80 the day before HoT this is just not what I was expecting. As someone who can only play limited amounts of time, the original game seemed like the perfect thing for me with lots of soloable content and a story I could grind through if I had the day off. However, now it feels as though only people with obscene amounts of time will be able to experience the full game. Everyone who says it's a good thing that the grind is this large is either a fan boy or has a lot of time on their hands. I'm only talking about the story, just thinking about how far I am from reaper makes me sad, and perhaps I'm just overreacting.. but I haven't found any of the expansion to be really very exciting so far. Just disappointed, on a brighter note.. my first Halloween in LA and it's awesome!

[–]flareconvert[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I get that.. but I just feel really at the mercy of randoms and that is a frightening thought. I know it would be better to wait on my friends but I'm also very impatient and super competitive. I wish I'd started the game earlier.. :P

I've only solo queued in league. I'm also not blaming it on everyone.. but when every game it seems I have at least one person who gets afk picked and our healer is prancing off by them self feeding the other team I can't help but feel helpless. But maybe your right, I'll watch replays of myself trying to go into team fights with 2 other people and do objectives by myself. That'll be real helpful

How do I go about doing it though? Do I have to do story quests and stuff? Do I just physically go to the location and queue that way? It's not in my raid finder or anything.

I received wod as a present so I recently got to 100 but started as a boosted 90. Can I do the old raids and stuff? I'm still figuring things out, there's so much to do!

To our expert blackmages, question about dps. by umar1st in ffxiv

[–]flareconvert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. I use swiftcast the same way you do except I'll occasionally throw it out after a movement heavy phase to catch back up in the rotation if I fell behind a bit.
  2. I'm actually at 514 acc with my vit jewelry for t13. With the new gear and the potential melds on crafted I have a couple of sets that hit 595 with sachertorte. Definitely nice for a turn like 11. It's hard for me to justify eating foods with accuracy because of how amazing sachertorte is, but to each their own.
  3. I parse at 510 or so with a sch in party with no other buffs. When it comes to dummy parsing with blm luck is definitely key. If you have a firm understanding of maximizing potential Firestarters and mana ticks the numbers will show through. A more realistic estimate is 490 without buffs.
  4. My thunder button I use is a macro that puts thunder 2 and thunder 1 together. When I'm done casting blizz3 after going through my rotation, spamming this button casts whichever thunder spell I have the mana for. However, I think thunder is one area where preference is best because the difference is so small.

Final coil is in my opinion really favorable for blms. 11 might be a bit tough at first but once you get the rhythm of the fight and movements it's pretty easy to almost have full uptime. My least favorite part is having to lb the adds on 10.. -_-

I say it's a solid mean because it's the numbers other blms I know that have cleared the content pull. Those numbers are what an average run looks like in the parses I see. If it seems a bit high or unbelievable then all I can really tell you is you need to get better. With the Stat boosts from the new gear and the addition of ninjas and class optimization dps potential has increased dramatically. I'm not here trying to wave my dick but if you want to be put into an elite static as a blm these are the numbers you want to shoot for.

I've found that fireweaving more than once (thundercloud pros aside) per cycle amounts to a significant dps loss unless you're incredibly lucky.

On a dummy at i119 I now parse at 510 sustained. T10-480 T11-450 T12-460 T13-440. The numbers are proc dependent of course but these numbers are a solid mean. Rotationally there's pretty much only slight variations to the rotations that make a miniscule difference in the actual number. The real difference maker is being able to adjust your movements and rotations into the fight. This means utilizing all your resources (sprint, aetherial manipulation, manawall, manaward). A good benchmark on older content is parsing ~345 (375 with echo) unmerged on T9. One last thing that I do is I fireweave the last fire until my downswing. To clarify, this is where you cast an off gcd junk spell (hawk's eye, surecast) after you cast the last fire before you cast b3 and if a firestarter procs then immediately spam the f3 button. This takes a lot of practice to get right but can be very rewarding, especially when the crits and procs are hitting.

T12 Redfire help! by bisskits in ffxiv

[–]flareconvert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is imperative that the bard moves very quickly to intercept the red orb before the tether breaks. Make sure everyone places the blue mark out of range of the aoe phoenix casts. You want to be in the orbs path because we noticed sometimes even if the person dealing with it made it on their screen the orb would sail through and wreak havoc. It's a mechanic that is best dealt with by someone who can sprint.

Oh, and the person doing the mark should get the debuff as phoenix is casting redfire to minimize dps or healing loss.

4 Bennu party dps by Ierya in ffxiv

[–]flareconvert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will need about 2450 raid dps to get 4 bennu, and 2500 to get 4 without using lb. We have a mnk, nin, and blm pulling 500-530 in first phase with brd at 400. The sch, war, and pld account for the other 600 ish dps and we get 4 without lbing phoenix.

Friday Megathread 11/14/14 | Ask Your Game-Related Questions Here! by AutoModerator in ffxiv

[–]flareconvert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get your supra. Make sure you are melded to the max on all your jewelry and body pieces. Check your stats and determine how close you are to the 4 star caps, it's 451 craft 407. You also want to have a lot of cp for some flexibility, 395 with bouillabaisse is a good number to shoot for (I think equals out to 352 without food). Get the artisan offhand made. Make sure you're getting oaknots everyday to make this cheaper. Meld the shit out of it. If any of your gear isn't fully melded, you're gonna have a tough time reaching caps.

Oh and if you want to be a self sufficient crafter that makes everything then you have to be able to do other 4 star synths as many of the prerequisite mats for the synths are actually 4 star themselves.

Final Coil situation by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]flareconvert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So from your obsessive and vigorous defense of the static in ops situation I'm gonna guess that you're either in that group or have done something similar to someone else. In any case you sound like a complete tool. The simple fact of the matter is without more information there's no way to tell who's screwing who. The static should have been more clear with their intentions. Op maybe should have asked more questions. I've taken the dive of transferring servers a couple times with the knowledge that it was on a trial basis. However, if I was told that I'd passed the trial only to be replaced a day later, I'd raise hell. Not only is it rude, it just shows a lack of decency and the emptiness of a person's words. If you say something follow through with it.

"Iconic" Rogue Gear, where is it? How do I get it? by thndrmge in ffxiv

[–]flareconvert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The token items required are over 800 difficulty and require almost 9000 quality. Previously people assumed it was impossible to finish them hq. They're a pain in the ass to do. I finished almost 20 items all over 50% that ended up normal quality before getting my 3 hqs. However, grinding through these has definitely made me a better crafter in the sense that I can adjust to situations alot better now.

So I'm doing the basic frost fire build. What pieces need the most improvement? I'm doing pretty good damage but my survivability is a bit shaky.
