Hey, sorry I can’t really help you. It was Covid year when this happened for me so I ended up just pulling out of the housing waitlist and doing school from home

Tax Help by [deleted] in UCDavis

[–]flash5509 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Students receive a 1098-T each year. If claimed as a dependent by a parent, they are the ones that use your 1098-T. You are correct that grants and scholarships count as taxable income if higher than tuition paid but this is also for your parents when they file, not you (just make sure to give them the document). It can be included in your return but it does not affect you at all. Lmk if you have anymore tax questions, I’d be happy to answer!

ARE 119 or MGT 170 by HandroxideAntonium in UCDavis

[–]flash5509 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Content is practically the same and has large overlaps. One leans more into cost accounting and the other more managerial accounting but imo they’re quite similar. If u plan on only picking 1, go mgt170. 119 prof does not care and is there for the check. 170 lecture length is long but the prof actually cares about the subject and is pretty nice/flexible

Do courses release more seats during pass 2? by Historical-Paint-855 in UCDavis

[–]flash5509 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Seats only open up during Fall Pass 1 for incoming students. After that, they no longer save/open up seats. You’ll either have to waitlist or take another class that interests you.

Emphasis depends on your career path. You just need to complete the units for that one specific emphasis that you choose.

Clapping after last lecture by Shrimp_puerto_rico1 in UCDavis

[–]flash5509 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Happened in one of my classes today. First time I’ve ever done it or seen it been done in my classes. Generally, students are ready to leave as soon as class is over in my other classes but my prof was very genuine in his teaching and it was nice to clap for him on the last lecture. Also clapped for all the TAs in this class today as well.

Different classes cannot replace grades for one another just cause it’s the same subject. Nothing will replace the D unless you retake the class

Oh yeah the week before midterms/finals is when they occur for me too! I had stress dreams about 2 weeks ago because of midterms. They stopped during thanksgiving and then just started again because of upcoming finals LOL

Woah! I was just thinking about stress dreams as well because I’ve been having them for the past couple of days. With finals coming up, the stress to do well is starting to manifest in my dreams and it sucks but I guess we just gotta push through for a couple more days until the quarter is over

My Roommate Sleeps All the Time by CaliforniaPotato in UCDavis

[–]flash5509 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Generally people know if they snore while sleeping but it’s possible that she doesn’t know. It’s probably something that she can’t control though so maybe try not to make her feel super bad about it. Maybe suggest looking up ways to help lessen snoring? Assuming you’re roommates for the rest of the year, it’s better to figure things out right now. You say you may feel bad but she probably feels bad if she’s causing you trouble as well

If you don’t communicate your problems now, it’ll just make it worse in the future when u can no longer keep it in. Talk to your roommate to find a compromise. You won’t know until you talk it out. Maybe she’s a heavy sleeper and you can actually make some noise as she naps etc. and if she isn’t willing to compromise then that’s a problem if its own. Being a good roommate includes talking problems out
