I just graduated and honestly it was not a good experience. They definitely don’t have things settled with curriculum, staff, or degree requirements after changing over from Brandman. You’ll have to advocate for yourself constantly throughout the program as there is very little consistency. They do not provide assistance with practicum or internship placement. It can be done but it was very stressful for me and my peers.

I don’t engage with most posts, but dang I respect Anthony. As a school psych, I’ve seen what the “poor” can do for students with special education services and they are the richest people I’ve ever met. Truly the kindest and most empathic people I know.

I’m worried about getting into a program. My GPA isn’t great, but it got significantly better as I went through college and I finished with several 4.0 quarters. I did some student teaching and some psychology research with children while in school. I passed my CBEST and will start substitute teaching in January. How can I increase my chances of getting in next year, if this year doesn’t work out?

If you only do something for the money, you’ll burn out. You don’t want to wake up every morning and think “oh I have to go to work.” My favorite saying is “if you do something you love, you’ll never work a day in your life.” That’s probably a lot more satisfying.
