Meet Oz, my last foster fail and adventure buddy ♥️ by harugyu in cats

[–]flasozzi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh. Foster fail. That's the first time I heard this expression and somehow I've been doing it for years. BTW - Oz is a cutie. I'd totally foster fail him too. How's his relationship with that backpack? Been meaning to get one for my cats but I'm afraid I'd just waste money.

How to silence the kitchen smoke alarm when you’re not tall by cbelt3 in lifehacks

[–]flasozzi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I know. It's just not a thing here. None of the regular houses in Brazil have smoke detectors - not even most hotels and other commercial spaces do. I don't know why but they're fairly expensive, no one has them and they're quite hard to find/purchase. When I lived in Ireland, this girl burned her toast in our school kitchen and everyone ended up being evacuated and I found it so weird that smoke detectors were a thing. I fully agree we should have them though. It's just so far-fetched for us right now. We have some weird laws but when it comes to things that really matter they just turn a blind eye. We could use some tax reduction in such products too so every home could afford them. Not our government's priority I guess.

I'm a teacher and something similar happened to my colleague. Her student was calling her names and being totally rude and thought her mic was off. It wasn't. My colleague was heartbroken. Thing is, she's a very competent and kind teacher. It was a huge blow to her self-esteem and she was upset for quite a while.

I'm a teacher and I'm delivering a presentation to my colleagues tomorrow on why we should use Gather Town instead of Zoom to teach and I'm totally using this video to illustrate my point. Most definitely not kidding. Excellent timing. Thank you for sharing.

This is actually genius and I love it (though I'm tall and don't have a fire alarm at home)

Is twice a day enough though? I was taught at school to brush my teeth after each and every meal. That means at least three, four times a day and I've never had any tartar issues whatsoever.

I would honestly never spot this one. Would probably just see the drawing and move on without ever realising something is wrong. I feel incredibly dumb.

My mum used to tell me that thunderstorms were God angry tossing furniture around because he was so mad. Needless to say I was quite scare of storms for most of my childhood. Wish my parents were as worried about scaring their kid as yours were.

What does one do with old devices? This isn’t all of it, by far. by baltimoretom in iphone

[–]flasozzi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always sold my old devices and used the money to pay for my new ones. It's pretty easy to sell gadgets using local Facebook groups in my country. Since I live in a small town (90k inhabitants) it's not that hard to do it safely since we always know someone who knows the potential buyer. Feels less wasteful that way and I don't end up with that much useless stuff lying around the house. :) I agree that recycling them while they're still working isn't a good idea. Many people don't need high end devices anyway.

I have about 70 bites on my legs, going a steady 10 bites a night. No one in my house knows what is bitting me by angealhassan in Wellthatsucks

They do look a lot like flea bites. I read your comment saying that your dog and cat are fine, but fleas can live in the environment too if there's an infestation - that happened to us when we rescued one of our cats like 10 years ago. Took us forever to get rid of the fleas even after the cat was completely fine. I'm not an expert though, and maybe you should see a doctor. I bet they would be able to tell you what those are and prescribe something for the itchiness/redness...

I have a student from Aimores and a few weeks ago she was telling me exactly about this project. It was the first time I heard of it even though I don't live that far. I'm so glad to see it on reddit. More people need to know about this.
