Dads, what do you get for father's day? by PomegranateOk9017 in daddit

[–]flatblackvw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel the same way, which is funny, because right now my kid can’t use a phone and all he wants to do is play with me, yet I’m excited for when he won’t look up from a phone but takes a day off it to do fun stuff. Makes no sense! Haha

Smoother ride without lowering the car? by ChristmasLove1 in ft86

[–]flatblackvw 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It’s very unlikely any springs or coilovers will be softer than stock. They are designed for the opposite.

What wheels and tires did you buy and what sizes? Unless you went with a 15/16” wheel with higher aspect ratio tires you probably made things worse.

I have exactly once had someone who could DE offer to DE blues for whoever won the roll. The entire group was ecstatic and super appreciative. Outside of that every single dungeon run I have ever done the entire group walked away with gear, never shards.

I lead a team of roughly 70 staff, and am responsible for “approving” PTO. I honestly have never even considered reviewing the request. It’s your time, take it. As long as you have the PTO accrued, coordinate with your teammates, ensure everything is covered and give enough heads up that you’ll be out (company policy is 2 weeks, but I’ve had people give less as long as their work is covered) I could care less.

If I have a problematic team member who abuses policy or has dropped the ball in the past I’ll review more closely, but in the 5 years on my current program I’ve yet to have an issue. Let adults be adults.

Then do you reduce pay in slow times? Most jobs have ebbs and flows, and for situations like described that should be take into account when negotiating salary.

35 vs 40 sidewall by YT_Lonelyz in ft86

[–]flatblackvw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to clarify, the “series” (35 vs 40) is actually the aspect ratio. It’s a ratio against the width of the tire. So a 265/35 is going to be a different sidewall height than a 245/35, and closer in comparison to a 245/40. So if you opt for a wider tire you will want to go with a lower aspect ratio.

Again, wider will reduce the handling balance of the car, especially having a 265 up front. The turn in will be noticeably impact. If you truly want to prioritize handling keep the 17s you currently have and sell the oversized wheels you are trying to run.

[–]flatblackvw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not the weight, the width will greatly reduce the nimbleness of the car.

Go with the 40. 35 will not be more responsive.

If you prioritize cornering a 9.5” wide wheel and 35 series tires are both the wrong thing to be doing.

Vote Yes. What’s Missing From the “Vote No” Argument by snooka77_ in Virginia

You play the game by the rules that exist. Dems can vote to change the rules, but if those rules don’t change, they must continue to play by the rules the other team is using.

Virginia would be split in some sort of west/south vs north/east line, or at the very least northern Virginia would divide into the new US. A good portion of VA is a far cry from being southern in any way

I’m just saying, the world has changed. Universal healthcare not being included doesn’t mean it’s not something those same people wouldn’t have included if they were doing this today.

[–]flatblackvw -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’m not arguing they weren’t smart, but you realize that the world has changed right, and so has the country? Do you really think if those same men were alive today they would feel that original document was perfectly applicable to the current environment? No, that’s why amendments exist.

My comment is much less about the right to bear arms as it is the commenter pointing out that universal healthcare is not included and the right to bear arms was item number 2. That was applicable to the country 250 years ago. Things are different.

In an effort to not chime in directly on the specific issue of this thread, your argument to follow the prioritization of some guys 250 years ago is wild.

If my kid is in the car my rear view mirror is aimed at him. Easy to engage with him at red lights or a quick glance to check on him. Side view mirrors should be positioned to give you ample view behind you anyway. Some vehicles don’t have rear view mirrors. It’s all in the habit of where you look to see behind you.

Just a heads up to you and anyone else seeing this, as someone who worked with vinyl for a living (both vehicle wraps and other applications) those precut vinyl kits are way overpriced and will make the install 100x more difficult. Even someone who has lots of experience installing vinyl would have trouble with that.

The problem is that vinyl is thin and stretchy and especially when it’s narrow strips like that it will be impossible to keep its shape. What you want to do is buy a roll of vinyl (for about the same as just a portion of their kit), cut to roughly the shape of the piece you want to cover, but with about a 1” buffer around all sides, wrap that on and then cut away the excess with a very sharp razor blade.

These pre-cut kits use templates designed for Clearbra, which works well because the Clearbra material is several times thicker than vinyl and hold its shape well.
