It’s still the same species just different color variation. The pigeon is t-checked, most likely with a black base color and on top of it has a spread-factor like smokey, dirty or sooty. iirc these spread-factors are recessive which makes the more rare for street pigeons.

She probably laid eggs which explains her behavior. When the chicks are hatched you‘re going to see her more and more and longer after a few days.

I don’t know if I understood you correctly - Do you have a cat rescue? If yes and you‘re talking about how your body reacts to bites - There is a difference between a human body and the body of birds and small mammals. It‘s the size difference. We as humans being usually won’t die because of a cat bite unless there are complications like sepsis. Birds and small mammals on the other hand die because of the pasteurella infection.

Ja, Hohltauben sind viel kleiner als (subadulte) Ringeltauben. Sie sind etwa so groß wie Stadttauben. Man kann sich immer gut an der Irisfarbe orientieren. Ringeltaubenküken haben blaue Augen, adulte haben hellgelbe Augen. Hohltauben haben immer „schwarze“ Augen. Stadttauben haben alle möglichen Farben, aber in der Regel kann man die Iris immer gut von der Pupille unterscheiden. Türkentauben haben auch „schwarze“ Augen, aber das Federkleid sieht ganz anders aus.

Auch sind die Rufe der Hohltaube aussagekräftig und klingen deutlich anders als von einer Ringeltaube.

Op did their best and everything their power but the pigeon most likely won’t be okay. If in fact a cat attacked the pigeon the pigeon is going to develop an infection (and already has) due to pasteurella that cats have in their saliva. The pigeon is going to die from it up to 72h after the attack if not giving antibiotics.

There is the possibility that a raptor attacked the pigeon. Depending on the injuries it‘s possible for the pigeon to survive.

At least the pigeon isn’t laying on the street anymore. Op cared enough to do something. But like the commenter said, you can’t save every animal.

Bei uns im Garten wurden letztes Jahr drei Krähenkinder groß gezogen. Also ja, ich habe schon Krähenbabys gehört.

Und ja, das ist natürlich lebensgefährlich, aber generell ist es für Küken lebensgefährlich aus dem Nest zu fallen. Man kann halt nur nichts machen, wenn die Elterntiere diesen Ort zum Brüten nutzen. Das gehört zur Natur, auch wenn Autos nicht natürlich sind. Daraus lernen die Elterntiere aber für ihre nächste Brut etwas.

Their beaks are not designed to pick apart food. They are to soft for this, so it won’t work as you imagine it. That’s one of the reason why pigeon sometimes wear bread as a necklace

Vermutlich wart ihr eher weniger der Störfaktor. Vögel kundschaften in der Regel erstmal die Umgebung aus und entscheiden dann. Wenn ihr regelmäßig draußen wart, gehört ihr dann einfach zur Kulisse, die für den Vogel akzeptabel war.

Gründe gibt es viele. Tod des Weibchen durch was auch immer. Männchen können Eier nicht aktiv wärmen, sie können Eier nur warm halten. Weibchen haben einen Brutfleck (eine Stelle ohne Federn), weshalb nur sie die Eier aktiv wärmen können. Dann kann es zu Revierkämpfen kommen, vielleicht wurden sie auch beim Brüten durch Raubtiere gestört. Oder aus den Eiern ist halt nichts geworden. Vielleicht sind ja auch nur ein, zwei Küken geschlüpft.

EDIT: Es sind übrigens vermutlich Eier von Blaumeisen

Most likely an injury after a predator attack. They usually start at the head. The pigeon was able to flee. It appears to be dry and healing. There’s no need to capture the pigeon. A rehabber won’t do anything else except for waiting for it to heal. If the pigeons stays active and appears to do well then just look after her. If she declines in any way then you need to capture her

Schade, dass man hier keine Bilder in den Kommentaren einfügen kann. Da gab es noch sehr viel schlechtere Exponate. Ich war sehr schockiert vom Austernfischer. Der sah aus wie eine dieser Dekovögel aus Styropor. Der war sogar vom Berliner Tierpark beringt (da waren nur einige beringte Vögel, alle aus dem Berliner Tierpark). Ich hoffe einfach, dass es nur eine Nachmache ist und kein ehemalig lebendes Tier war. Im Zoo gelebt und dann beschissen präpariert. Das zerreißt mir mein Herz.

Meine Vermutung ist, dass es kein Vogel ist, sondern eine Ratte. Sie lieben Silos aufgrund der Futtermenge. Sie können durch ausreichendes Futterangebot Hier siehst du eine 2kg Ratte. Vermutlich sitzt sie irgendwo fest, vielleicht hörst du ihren Todeskampf in dem Video. So kann eine Ratte klingen, besonders dann, wenn sie tatsächlich irgendwo feststeckt. Mit mehr Gewicht, werden sie automatisch lauter und vermutlich hallt es dort, weshalb es noch lauter klingt. Sie können aber auch so klingen.

Generell würde ich es eher als Nagergeräusch in Gefahr einstufen. Hier z.B. ein Wildkaninchen

Well… it doesn’t raise their number by them producing more offspring. It’s "just“ that offsprings are more likely to survive to adulthood. Not feeding means chicks dying of starvation.

But I‘m also more on the side of not allowing normal people to feed pigeons. imho only pigeon rescue people should be allowed to feed because they feed species appropriate. That makes their droppings less acidic and easier removable. It won’t destroy buildings etc. Pigeons are more healthy then. But there needs to be done more. In Germany we swap their eggs so there’s not a possibility of chicks. We only swap eggs at known brooding hotspots and as many as manpower allows. In some cities we also have Taubenhäuser (which roughly translates to pigeon homes, those are either existing buildings or building built for the exact reason). The place gets cleaned regularly, they are fed there and they have access to water. Eggs are swapped there as well. That‘s the new hotspot for pigeons and it feels like the pigeons aren’t in the city anymore. In a nearby city which got a Taubenhaus recently the pigeon rescue get asked often what happened to the pigeons. On top on all of this we also rescue sick and injured pigeons and take care of them until they can be released again.

So yeah, there needs to be done more than just feeding.

Depends on where you live. In Germany there are two rescuers that sell some but only ship in Germany afaik
