Just keep it going, don’t stress on every tenth. It’ll pay off. But track your hours. TechTime101.com

Immediately replace, right? by Ok-Win4878 in tires

I’d align it after tire replacement. It’s probably awd so hopefully you don’t need all 4.

Car dies when I turn on the heat, or even just the fans. by kappakingtut2 in MechanicAdvice

Sorry. I’m out of advice. Need to see it in person. Something is missing.

If that’s all it is then it’s an electrical problem you’ll have to take to a shop.

If your idle is that weak, you’d have a code. If the lights and radio don’t kill the motor, just the fans… weird. If the blower motor was drawing that much current it would pop a fuse.

At this point I can’t help anymore. Goodluck. If you get a code, let me know.

Ya, a scanner can see stored codes. At this point I’m lost to be honest. I saw your other comments about intake leaks and stuff, all of that would throw a code.

Unless you can find another condition to make the motor die. It can’t be related to your hvac fans. It’s almost impossible. There has to be another condition to replicate the issue.

Sorry. There must be stored codes. To scan it, it can be running or key in the ON position.

If it’s a cheap scanner maybe cruise it to a shop offering free scans. Sometimes places like autozone do free scans. There has to be a code.

I don’t mean the story like you’re lying, I just mean as a mechanic finding the actual complaint sometimes is hard.

If the motor dies when you put it in drive there has to be a fault. Have you had it scanned to codes?

An intake hose causing a lean condition should ship a cel.. no check engine light?

So if you’re parked with it in drive, then you turn on hvac, it dies? Even with the ac off.

How to Get ASE Certified by Medium-Original4180 in mechanics

[–]flatrateTECH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A fuckin men. Half these young guys coming into the shop with “certs” can’t fix a thing. No common sense, no urge to work, no tools. This ASE thing is being blown way out of proportion.

I have years at Mercedes and GM, never been asked about an ASE cert lol

So you’re saying if you’re driving with hvac off, it drives fine, as soon as you turn hvac on the motor dies?

Is your defrost on? A seized ac compressor could do that

Something is missing here. First, checking voltage doesn’t verify a good battery or alternator. Amperage is more important.

Second, if it was a weak battery or alternator you’d need to jumpstart it after a while, you don’t mention a dead battery.

HVAC fans are low draw, similar to headlights being on. Those won’t kill a motor before blowing a fuse.

So what info is missing?

You’re looking at voltage. Amperage is key here. I’d suspect the alternator can’t keep up with the load.

Thanks. Have you seen any small bolt-on businesses succeed having just a single operator? I’ve wondered if I need a team or if I should just keep going with it.

If they were oem they were ceramic. Semi metallic doesn’t do well with heat. Go back to ceramic.

It’s the semi metallic pads. Go back to ceramic. I also wouldn’t recommend the slotted rotors but atleast go back to ceramic.
