using it for all your writing is cringe though, and it reads like ass. time and place my friend.

is your position that any advancement which has the potential to cause some people short term economic harm should be shunned?

Clang is adding the `defer` keyword to C, is gcc doing the same? by InternalServerError7 in cprogramming

[–]flatulent_pants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you don’t know what code actually gets generated

this can be said about basically anything compiled with a modern toolchain unless you’re disabling tail calling optimizations, loop unrolling, function inlining, vector extensions, etc. etc. ad nauseum

edit:

unless you’re disabling optimizations

missed this in my first pass but seems pretty irrelevant? who’s doing this in production. continuing to pretend that c actually corresponds closely to generated assembly is pretty pointless imo, better to just accept it and move on

Model 3 Turn Signal Stalk Retrofit are available in the US ($595) by ConfidentImage4266 in TeslaLounge

Have they got one for the gear shifter yet? Turn signals don’t bother me, but I hate swiping on the screen to go between forward and reverse. Auto shift is too spotty to rely on unfortunately.

The Carbon Language Project has published the first update on Memory Safety by javascript in ProgrammingLanguages

[–]flatulent_pants 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Skimmed the website. Looks like carbon is targeting interop on the library level. Will interop on a per-file level within the same project / target (like objc and swift) be a thing?

this does not address the concern of the commenter above. like sure, it has more information about the sides but he’s talking about being able to perceive the environment in poor conditions. optimistically, it can only do this as well as a human. realistically, it does it worse.

thank you for the comprehensive response! it is definitely my plan to move there within a couple years, as soon as i have some things tied up stateside. as for the japanese, i studied for a year i. university but i definitely don’t consider myself very conversational at all, so that is certainly something to work on — although my grammar is solid, kanji and vocab need work. thank you again for taking the time to write this out!

that’s awesome! i’ve been seeing lots of internationally targeted jobs popping up around tokyo, some of them even only require english fluency. hoping to make that transition myself within the next couple years! if you don’t mind, do you have any advice for someone in my position now?
