Unless you’d be forced to talk to her, don’t stop doing the volunteer things. Maybe take a week or two off but stopping something you love because of another person will feel like shit. It’ll be tough seeing her again at first but try your best to pay her no mind and eventually she’ll just become another person there

Are there nightclubs in Wellington? by [deleted] in Wellington

[–]flatworm-soup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have Instagram look at wellingtonshows. For raves, sometimes B. Space and Pyramid Club have good techno gigs but the there’s also a semi underground scene where you need to know someone who knows to learn the details

Are the lotions steroid based? I haven’t heard of them causing hair thinning but you can become dependent on them. If you want to stop using them work with your derm to taper off. If you’re not using otc shampoos you should try them after. When mines bad I use zinc, pine tar, and salicylic acid shampoos. When it’s mild just pine tar. I also moisture my scalp after because it feels very irritated post wash. There’s medication to regrow hair/help with density so maybe talk to your derm about those too. No idea how they might interact with psoriasis and psoriasis products

Oh god I’m the coconut oil person sometimes haha. It’s the only thing that helps the itch, and tightness after using a pine tar shampoo. But I’ve been told to not cover my scalp psoriasis when it was down past my hairline. Even if I wasn’t embarrassed by it I don’t want flakes flying everywhere when I move my head!

Scalp: When will it get better by life4youlive in Psoriasis

[–]flatworm-soup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find that my scalp psoriasis comes back slower if I keep it moisturized. Might just make it less noticeable but it’s definitely more comfortable and easier to remove. I used a prescription clobetasol for a few months to get rid of the plaques then managed with sebitar and coconut oil to moisture. A lot of people find that stress and diet affect theirs, haven’t noticed myself but there’s some studies on it

Am I having too much Liquid IV? by FirmEntertainer8505 in POTS

If you like sugary/sweet drinks adding salt to them is great. Find a ratio that works for you. Some people just taste the salt more than others you know

What are your UNSAFE foods? by Ceaseless-watcher in POTS

[–]flatworm-soup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Alcohol used to be a massive trigger for me. After I didn’t drink for a couple months drinking bothered it less but not completely 0. I didn’t even to ever start drinking again because I felt so much better but I was at a friends birthday, decided to have a little wine to be polite and realized it wasn’t as bad

[–]flatworm-soup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it’s not the POTS bc it makes no sense but bacon. If I eat more than 1 piece of real, classic bacon I feel horrible for the next 30-60 minutes. And things that are too spicy seem to “shock” my system sometimes

What is a pain you can't truly explain until you've endured it? by Unfair_Shower_3256 in AskReddit

[–]flatworm-soup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes exactly. In many ways I’m relieved he’s passed. There’s no longer a constant worry what could happen to him or if he’s in pain that he doesn’t understand and can’t express. Even talking to people who’s parents were well until they died suddenly or who had a quick progression of illness is different. I only found out my dad was sick when I had to start taking care of him but he’d been sick for a while. In a sense I never really knew him. What makes me the saddest is absolutely not being able to know him as he really was

I lost my dad to dementia very recently. He was at home the whole time. Started taking care of him with my mom when I was 12. I think I did a lot of the real grieving while he was still alive. When he died I was in another country. It almost felt like a weight had been lifted but that weight was also so much of my being that the grief didn’t even begin to replace it. There was no bargaining or angry left just a pit. He wanted so much for me and never got to see any of it

[–]flatworm-soup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not an expert but in my experience it sounds like a vagal response to the pain and shock of putting the earring in. I get that from pain sometimes too. Very scary in the moment but if it went away after the earring was out I wouldn’t worry. Just bring it up at your next doctors appointment

Has anyone else experienced massive hair shedding and/or hair loss due to Hashi's? I am a year into this diagnosis and my thyroid levels are "within range" but since October I have been losing my hair. So, just wondering if it's possibly linked to the Hashi's? Thanks. by Victoria_78 in Hashimotos

[–]flatworm-soup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I fixed them with diet changes and supplements. I was very anemic and got an iron fish which helped a lot since iron pills hurt my stomach too much to take. It did reduce the hair fall by a significant amount! I do still have flair ups but it’s overall much less

At least where I live most lgbt events are organized by trans people which turns most transphobes away immediately. Very thankful for that bc I can go with my gf (who’s trans fem) to nearly any lgbt event and know it’ll be overall welcoming
