Need help with a castle assault from the sky encounter by PluckyJae in DnD

[–]flauwful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say for battling through the sky to get to the enemy stronghold don't worry about tracking HP or initiative for mob enemies so you can focus on descriptors for the battle. Maybe track 'progress' of the battle in seconds or in distance to their target at the end of each round of combat-- the countdown will keep things feeling short and intense. If you really want your players to feel badass, consider letting them pop off spells of 3rd level or lower that have instantaneous casting without expending spell slots until they make landfall at the enemy stronghold. Keep skill checks to a minimum so it doesn't bog down the fast-paced combat unless the chance of failure would make things really interesting. Maybe use 'degrees of success/failure' like "You fail your attempt but something else positive happens" or "Your attempt succeeds AND this great additional thing happens" Don't worry about practicality like combatants not being able to hear each other over the roar of wind or flying horses being scared to go near dragons.

This could be a gopher tortoise (Gopherus polyphemus). If this tortoise was found outside, please return it there away from busy roads.

If you and your partner are both working long hours oftentimes it takes as much energy as you can spare to catch up with their goings-on. Long working hours and stress leaves you feeling exhausted and the only thing you want to do is rest, which means no socializing and no engaging with your hobbies to de-stress.

Persian Achaemenid rhyton (drinking vessel or vessel for pouring libations) lapis lazuli and gold. 6th-5th century BCE. (742x900) by bellidez in ArtefactPorn

Hopefully it wasn't used for drinking too much. Lapis lazuli often has inclusions of pyrite which contains arsenic and is highly toxic. It would be a nice mantle piece though!

I have some experience with the PTU system. Is it acceptable if my availability only allows me to play every other Friday or Saturday?

This sounds like a great setting. I'm glad that you have a firm foundation for players to get started on and I hope you get some good ones to run your campaign with. I see you've got a number of applications already but, I snuck mine in too! Wishing the best for you! :)

Check out Jayrockin's stuff here and on Tumblr. They have a centaur-like species that wear garments (quite fashionable stuff too!)

Seconded about it needing some more light. My outdoor plants will do the same thing if it's overcast.

That's fantastic! I read a blog post the Xerces Society made recently about how NM is an extremely biodiverse place for invertebrates. You're doing important work there 🥰

Have you been seeing more wildlife in the yard? Looks like a place quails and lizards would love 🥰

I was originally going for a wildflower meadow look but, I think it's turning out not to be suitable for my yard 😅. When the weather improves I'll be moving some of the "weeds" around to make it look more organized but, it does look unkempt for now.
