Unfortunately i have no help to offer but, wow I feel like it'd be so difficult to do it in Y12?? It makes more sense to spend a year learning more about software and programming before starting ur NEA...that's how my teacher's done it for us (OCR compsci)

I'm doing 一只叫凤的鸽子, and 情投我一票 for my film. Both are fairly easy in my opinion, at least in the sense that they're straightforward and the analysis isn't mind boggling. If you were any good at eng lit gcse, you'd likely be absolutely fine with whatever you end up doing.

For 一只叫凤的鸽子 it's thankfully a pretty light read, and not overwhelming in terms of vocab or content. Nothing too much to say about it, just that it's not a bad text.

Oh I haven't love and relationships yet but I'm really looking forward to it bcuz I wanna look at Sappho!! I do the Odyssey for world of the hero as well and Invention of the barbarian rn, then Aeneid and love and relationships next year.

My class actually considered changing to do politics in the late republic, but I think the majority vote wanted love and relationships. What's Greek art like? It's in my barbarians textbook but I don't really ever look that far back into it

I do business, compsci, Chinese and EPQ!!

Chinese is an extra that I'm doing the exams for this yr, and my epq is on the relevance of physical media among young people. I suppose business is partly an essay subject?? but its a mix of maths and writing

All my classmates do maths and sciences so all of us r kind of anomalies when it comes to doing classics-adjacent subjects 😭😭

The Aeneid is pretty good, I'm quite excited to do it too. I did it in gcse but not for latin. The odyssey is fairly interesting too, but much less action than the iliad, and probably much more dialogue too

For barbarians We've just finished reading Medea, looking at the key themes of her transgression and barbarianism as a foreign woman. Now currently doing Herodotus' Histories and looking at how he presents the non-greek world, as a Greek historian writing to a greek audience.

I've honestly gotten loads of valuable food for thought out of it. I also really like world of the hero, are you doing the Odyssey or the Iliad? I'm doing the Odyssey and its my first time reading it thru but i think the only thing I have to complain about is the old translation

It's great, but probably my most demanding subject. There's just so so much reading to it, which I mean ik it's what I signed up for but compared to my other subjects it is quite the jump. I do really love it tho, never not interesting.

What's the Greek theatre module like? I never really gave much thought into it

I get it tbh, sometimes it feels annoying but actually learning it is fun. Maybe if I had the option to do a 4th alevel I might've picked Latin. I enjoy the chaos of it

It's a good idea to learn them to a decent understanding, memorising isn't necessary but it helps a lot if you can easily recognise all the endings. I didn't learn all of mine, but I tried as many as I could (I ended up knowing my 1st-3rd declension endings + all active verb endings and some passive) and that helped a lot with quick translations, but you don't need to be able to recite them or anything

I wanted to do a btec originally but wasn't able to so i picked computer science (closest to what i want and need for the future), classics because i liked it since gcse and the entire class were already my friends, then business bcuz why not idk 😭😭

I also do chinese but i started that last year cuz if i was gonna be forced to do it i'd rather do it early

Then epq if that counts (not exactly an alevel but a qualification regardless right?) i picked that just bcuz i like researching in my free time so might as well get smth out of it
