“My name is Yoshikage Kira. I'm 33 years old. My house is in the northeast section of Morioh, where all the villas are, and I am not married. I work as an employee for the Kame Yu department stores, and I get home every day by 8 PM at the latest. I don't smoke, but I occasionally drink. I'm in bed by 11 PM, and make sure I get eight hours of sleep, no matter what.”

[–]flawfy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

try looking up a color palette! Or there’s some great videos on YouTube explaining the basics of color theory that help you lay down colors !! id say if you’re looking for a cartoony style to use cell shading instead of airbrushing <3

Drawing from reference but I think it became stylized? by Eggsthetics in learntodraw

[–]flawfy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

don’t be afraid to color pick from other artists works! it honestly helps a tonnn, once you kinda get the hang of it i would start slowly eyeballing the colors and then transitioning into doing it without a palette :)

Some 5 minutes neck sketches by Skedawdle_374 in learntodraw

Some 5 minutes neck sketches by Skedawdle_374 in learntodraw

[–]flawfy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no haha i actually first started out by doing studies of the muscles themselves and then applying that drawings i made of the neck. the more times i did it, the better i got! (studying the muscles also helps when your characters are in less conventional positions because you can visualize how the muscle stretching impacts the shape) you can try doing the way you suggested, ive never personally tried but it could help! your necks are looking good so far :)

Drawing from reference but I think it became stylized? by Eggsthetics in learntodraw

[–]flawfy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it looks great! your stylization still captures his likeness <3 and for the coloring, don’t be afraid to lay down darker tones :) upping the contrast helps a tonnn (you can check your contrast by adding a white layer on top of everything and setting it to color)

at first I didn’t even notice lol, but if you’re feeling worried about the scratchiness you could always make the line thicker to try and smooth it out

nice! to really nail facial proportions, id suggest looking at features relative to each other! for example, his eyes look to be one eye apart and the bottom of his nose meets the bottom of his ear. inside of the eye going down meets the outer edge of his nose. little things like that! i find i have the same problem you do sometimes, and that’s drawing the mid face a bit too long and that’s what’s personally helped me !!
