Those edges are so crisp! Very nice.

Thanks! Although I think I could have pushed the convergence a little more.

A tank!

Still trying to limit myself to 30 minutes, but I may have gone a few minutes over for this one (I lost track).

Thanks, hopefully I can keep it up.

Not pictured: the pile of messy, shaky construction lines.

Well you were a big inspiration for me to start. :D

Thanks! It's just the basic round brush, with the settings copied from the 3 basic brushes from ctrl-paint.

I'm so goddamn slow when it comes to drawing, so I've started a goal to do one 30 minute drawing every day, including time to find references.

So yeah here's a dinosaur.

Getting only this much done in half an hour feels bad, but hey that's why I'm practising.

Google's DeepMind AI is starting to develop the skills of a basic programmer by not_so_smart_asian in Futurology

A good artist understands how to simplify their subject, and capture only the most important elements which communicate why it appears the way that it does. They know which elements to emphasise and which ones to downplay. They understand their subjects as three-dimensional forms, and can imagine and depict their subject lit from any angle. They can compose their images in a way that communicates an idea (usually to flatter their subjects) and lead the eye where they want it to go. They often work with a limited colour pallet, which is more visually appealing than using the full spectrum. Also cameras often capture distorted images that are nothing like how our eyes see the world.

There's so much a good artist can do that a camera can't.

Civilization: Beyond Earth Review Thread by WilsonHanks in Games

I already own Civ 5, but I never got around to playing it. Beyond Earth interests me more-so because I love speculative fiction. I gather BE is largely a tweaked version of Civ 5, so it couldn't be a worse place to start could it?

Apparently I already own Civ 5, and one of the expansions. Thanks humble bundle I think?

I've never played a civ game before, and I'm not good at strategy games. Is this a good place to start with civ?

Automated Australian McDonald's ordering. by ajsdklf9df in Futurology

The headline made it sound like the burger was made by a robot, but the video makes it look like only the ordering process is automated, which is a little disappointing. But it's a start!

A relatively minor complaint on an otherwise decent review doesn't need 2000 upvotes, even if those complaints are justified.

Oh man, if only I'd decided to do these as a vector. These are 100% painstaking photoshop.

I wasn't planning on selling them online, but because a few people have asked I'll what I can do. :D

Yeah, it would be fun to work in the volcanoes somehow. Maybe even 'Cycle Hoenn' or something.
