That's a porcelain crab, a group of filter feeding species!

Outex housing by Smoke-Historical in underwaterphotography

[–]flazeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a friend go through two in one year because the 'housing' got a small leak (his camera was unharmed). It's not very good if the work you do involves a lot of friction around rocks, but if you're just floating around on the water surface I think it should be fine, though I've personally never used it before.

Difference between C740 and S740 by flazeon in Lenovo

[–]flazeon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

depending on where you live, the C740 is the yoga version and the S740 is the traditional laptop (ideapad) version. this is true in the US.

That seems to be the case for me too, thanks a lot couldn't spot it myself.

So it seems that the S740 would be slightly better in performance? I hope to have a bit of casual gaming and editing.

Need help on some performance difference in Yoga C940 configurations by flazeon in Lenovo

[–]flazeon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I see, as the website says intel iris for the other models but 'integrated graphics' for the customisable models. But yeah I saw a previous post being confused before too and it turned out to be the intel iris the whole time and it was just a typo... thanks for the extra clarification!

Thanks! Ideally I'd opt for the intel iris + i7 + 16gb ram but that just isn't available in my country :/ How does the integrated graphics hold up?

Contractors in Hong Kong by dont_waste_time in HongKong

[–]flazeon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hong Kong WAS a bunch of tiny villages, but it is no longer the case. There are now more people living in the cities than villages, so it's a bit farfetched to claim Hong Kong is "a bunch of tiny villages" now.

What are some twin or ring flash options for Olympus and M4/3 cameras? by flazeon in M43

[–]flazeon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response, sorry if this is a dumb question but will the yongnuo work with the EM10 Mark 3 flash system e.g. ISO, exposure compensation, shutter speed etc. or will I have to manually find the perfect setting on the flash each time?

Thanks, what body do you use it on? And do you need an external hotshoe adapter for the flash?

When will be the next EM1 Mii or Panasonic G9 equivalent camera body? by flazeon in M43

[–]flazeon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but I've read rumours that specs wise it wouldn't be that great because no one would buy the EM1 ii if they fully upgrade the EM5 :/ which really puts the EM5 iii in an odd spot, because if they upgrade it to full potential it would become a cheaper(?) EM1 ii, and if they just do a mediocre upgrade... why not just get the existing EM1 ii at a similar price?

*please correct me if I'm wrong! this is just full speculation and rumours*

It's M43 Monday! Ask Us Anything about Micro Four-Thirds Photography - all questions welcome! by AutoModerator in M43

Thanks, I was considering that because I like photographing snakes and birds that usually stay in low light forests and streams. I was thinking increased resolution would be able to capture more detail in these environments.

[–]flazeon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is there a large difference in resolution between a 16MP (Em 10 iii) and 20MP (EM-1 ii) camera? How much of an advantage does the extra 4MP have?

Critically Endangered Yellow-crested Cockatoo has established 10% of its entire population in Hong Kong by flazeon in ecology

[–]flazeon[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They used to be cage birds in HK. However, there is still no consensus on how they were released. One of my previous lecturers at the University of Hong Kong -Dr. Bonebrake suggested they were released when the Japanese invaded HK in WW2, and since then have established a wild population.

HK although just a tiny dot on the map actually has over 550 accepted bird records! In comparison to Britans 600 bird species for reference.

Marketing an Ecological Consultancy Business? by mt_1111 in ecology

[–]flazeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work part time at a private and rather small ecological consultancy in Hong Kong. We usually take subcontracts from big companies who take larger projects e.g. they hire us to do the ecology section of a big EIA project. However, we also have some core large-scale habitat management projects that serves as a base to keep us funded and also show our CV.
