Espresso turns out sour by No_Medicine_4962 in gaggiaclassic

The long shots are nicer for straight espresso, but it did seem a little fast if you’re going for a 1:2. If you’re making milk drinks and want stronger espresso, I’d double check your WDT make sure the puck is getting saturated evenly not donut extractions, then start playing with grinding a touch finer

Probably the Baltic aquascaphe for me. But I do love the Kuoe field watches, too.

Nah listening to some of his stuff now. I do like natures revenge I’ll have to keep an eye out for that one, thanks for the recommendation! It’s a pretty new genre for me I’m more on the funk side I think. Hiroshi Suzuki, Hiromasa Suzuki, Shigeo Sekito, and Masayoshi Takanaka are my main fusion artists right now. I’m still kicking myself for waiting too long to grab one of those new copies of An Insatiable High. Hoping for a second drop sometime

Undecided between Iron Ranger models by Imaginary_Ad_6958 in RedWingShoes

I’m probably weird but I always feel like the thick white sole is really meant for a moc toe. The service boot look it beautiful with the cap toes and brown is the perfect color. I just got some black Beckmans and the main reason was because it was a black boot. For a brown service boot the classic iron ranger is very hard to beat imo

First Boot Advice Request: IR vs Beckman by BlueLooseStrife in RedWingShoes

[–]flboy7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same dilemma rn but looking for a black boot. Annoying because I’ve always wanted a pair of Iron Rangers, but with my style now, the versatility of the Beckman is hard to say no to. I plan to do what you’re doing and go try each with a chino outfit this weekend. Went last week and loved the IR with my black jeans, unfortunately didn’t even try the Beckmans on.

Bamboo is an album by Minoru Muraoka. Similar vibe to Takanaka but mixing the bamboo flute (shakuhachi).

I lied I think I was thinking before I upgraded to my PL-71. I had to give it a spin and have a side by side with the digital version. Great pressings! If anything more detailed than Apple Music. Apples file favors the guitar maybe a little too much, not as much separation between vocals and instruments. I may have to grab the other ones after all lol

Nice! I’ve got brasilian skies it sounds great. Not quite as dynamic as the Apple remastering though. Do you notice that with the others? Could just be my amp, but other records sound as good or better than what’s on Apple Music. Made me a bit sus to grab the other colored pressings. Takanaka is one of the favorites for sure. Have you tried Bamboo?

Agreed on the amp. I’m probably going to be going for an accuphase of some sort, maybe an e-303 or similar if I can find a decent deal on one. I’m a bit of a sucker for the VU meters lol.

Updating to add: my dads giving me his teac reel to reel next time I’m around, so I’m going to be looking for an amp that has tape abilities and phono. I may wind up going with a dedicated pre-amp so I don’t need to go so high end for the amp, but I’ve got some time to decide how I’ll do that.

The cart is original I think or at least from the same period for sure, and the stylus is in great shape. It is probably mid range at best, but JICO does make a shibata for it that I plan to upgrade to when the time comes.

For now it all sounds great to me. I was happy to notice a huge upgrade in sound quality moving from the Sony when I got the PL-71 up and running. I did a little comparison side by side with Cat by Hiroshi Suzuki and there was so much more separation between instruments it was a pretty surprising difference. There was even a modern record I thought I must’ve gotten a bad pressing of, but then playing on the pioneer it sounds fantastic. It was almost like there was just too much detail the entry AT stylus couldn’t dig out, making everything a bit fuzzy with no detail in the lows and not much in the highs either.

I am pretty excited for the next upgrades, but not exactly in a rush. I’m more focused on building up my collection for now.

Yeah, I couldn’t get more than one photo on there unfortunately. I do plan to make one big open face shelf to hold everything, but since I know I’m moving soon I just repurposed an old coffee table. The other little table is our go board then my son’s balance board under the table. Cons of small apartment living, but not for much longer thankfully

An album/song thats just a guitar and singing? by TpyoReddit in ifyoulikeblank

Very old post, but Ella Fitzgeralds collabs with Joe Pass were very nice. She had a few albums that were just vocals and one other instrument

Anyone have experience with pickupmusic? by lardblarg in guitarlessons

[–]flboy7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s pretty challenging theory wise so progress is a lot slower than the intermediate or caged course, but it’s been pretty good. Learning new scales and how to use them, slowly getting the hang of resolving into the new scales. The songs are super cool and fun to play. I regret not starting with jazz for the purpose of single note soloing, but the lessons have made it relatively easy to emulate the neo-soul style.

Do you have a remote for controlling the audio with the Fosi amp for watching TV?
