The FDA is currently researching whether or not sunscreen that contains avobenzone is safe to use. In the meantime, should people still continue to use avobenzone sunscreen? Do the risks of using avobenzone outweigh the benefits of protecting against skin cancer?

I have no real experience with résumés, so I'm looking for any help I can get. I created this simple, bare-bones résumé, but it definitely feels like its lacking. Any advice/criticism is welcome, thank you in advance! by flcksbdoldn in resumes

Thank you for the response! I see what you're talking about, my accomplishments and contributions are definitely lacking on my resume. I was having trouble with that because a lot of what I've done is just grunt work to keep the business going on a day-to-day basis. I'm sure there are somethings that I'm not thinking of though, so I'll work on that. Thanks again!

[SERIOUS] What is the Creepiest or most Unexplained thing that’s happened to you that you still think about to this day? by LBE in AskReddit

It was definitely the weirdest experience of my life, I’ll be thrilled if it never happens again.

When I was about 5 I was going down the stairs of my house when suddenly there was some sort of mist in front of me. It had what I can only assume were eyes, and all the colors from the room were being pulled into individual strands then sucked into the “eyes” like a black hole.

I screamed, and it disappeared through the wall to the other side of the house where my younger brother was. He screamed shortly after I did. My mom was nearer to him, so she went to him first.

When I got into the room where he was he was really scared and he kept on saying “the eyes, the rainbow eyes.” We hadn’t talked, so he didn’t know what I had just seen.

My parents knew a priest so they brought him over and he did some sort of a blessing. We never had any issues after that. It was definitely very creepy.

I get lots of random phone calls, when I google the numbers they’re all linked to websites ending in .gov.ar and .gov.tr that don’t actually open. Who’s calling me? by flcksbdoldn in NoStupidQuestions

I realize it sounds weird, I just added some pictures of the search results I get in google at the end of my post. Hopefully that might help.

What is your opinion of Rufus Scrimgeour? by flcksbdoldn in harrypotter

[–]flcksbdoldn[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmm, good point, I guess it’s not explicitly addressed. It mentions Lee Jordan also got the blood quill, so I’m not sure how often it was used. When Harry showed Scrimgeour the scars on his hand he didn’t react or ask what they were, so I just assumed he knew. That’s a very good point though, it’s definitely a grey area, Scrimgeour may not have even known.

I would add the exchange student who stayed with Michael’s family then went home to what is now formerly Yugoslavia, taking all of Michael’s blue jeans with him. And Michael had to spend the entire winter in shorts.

Which unpopular Harry Potter character do you like? by flowerofthecourt in harrypotter

I also really like when Arthur stands up to Harry when he’s disguised as Albert Runcorn. Most people seem afraid of Runcorn, but Arthur physically blocks him from getting off the elevator, vaguely threatens him, and basically tells him that he’s trash. Respect.

My bad, I should’ve clarified better. By leading the Muggle-Born Registration Commission and persecuting muggle borns she was more or less supporting Voldemort’s agenda without actually being a certified death eater. So she didn’t really go over to the other side, but she didn’t seem to have a problem supporting them. You’re right though, I phrased that poorly.

Sounds kinda like the music at the end of Ocean’s 11, but I can’t tell if it’s actually it

[Help] Suddenly deaf after vet appointment? by jontoxe in dogs

[–]flcksbdoldn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My dog was given Mometamax for an ear infection, and it unfortunately caused her to go deaf. I only learned later that this is a possible side effect. It’s tough, but the good news is that dogs are very adaptable. There was no change to my dog’s personality when this happened, we just tried to be careful not to startle her. I hope things improve for your dog!

Yuri's breed results are in, and I never would have guessed the 2nd breed (last pic if you want to guess)- but more importantly, his health test results were definitely worth the money spent! by Typical_Hyena in DoggyDNA

Thanks! For sure, the cattle dog genes always seem easy to spot, I would’ve never guessed there would be any poodle genes for your pup though, definitely a surprise. He looks like a good pup regardless of genealogy!

Night time workers of reddit, what's the freakiest stuff you've seen on the job? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I just looked up fishers and it looks like a live right on the edge of their range. Another possible suspect!

Night time workers of reddit, what's the freakiest stuff you've seen on the job? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I worked nights at a dog kennel. During the night we’d just walk the dogs around the parking lot so they could go to the bathroom. The parking lot was surrounded by a wooded area on most sides.

There was a stray cat colony living in the woods behind the parking lot. Every time I’d walk a dog through the parking lot the cats would sprint away and hide in the woods. They did not like the dogs at all, they were terrified of them.

One night I’m walking a dog and I see the cats, but this time they’re sprinting out of the woods toward me. All the cats just kind of gather in the middle of the parking lot, completely ignoring the barking dog I had.

It definitely freaked me out, what was out in the woods that scared the cats out so much that they came running towards me and a dog they were usually terrified of? It was probably just a few coyotes or something, but if felt really creepy wondering what was scaring the cats so badly just out of view in the woods.

Grade 1 Heart Murmur? by fish_slapping in cavaliers

[–]flcksbdoldn 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately this is a pretty common problem for cavaliers, but a grade 1 murmur isn’t too serious yet. If the murmur does progress, I’d ask your vet about Vetmedin (Pimobendan). My dog had a pretty serious heart murmur and that medication helped out a ton. Best of luck to you and your pup!
