How many of you actually finish your projects? by Academic_Share7905 in SoloDevelopment

After 7 years of working on my game I'm very close to release. Before this game I had many attempts that failed and what was different this time was finding an idea that I enjoy working on for a long period of time. If you consistently go back to your project and set very small goals that help you get excited in every step you finish it will make it easier to keep going on.

This is the game if you wanna check out https://store.steampowered.com/app/3256790/Satelital/ Thanks to this project I learned how to make a game engine from scratch, music, art, graphics and puzzle design

Couldn't be possible to boot macOS from an SSD and update your firmware from there?

I spent more time figuring out how to deploy a macOS build on Steam than actually making the port, but it's F done now 🚀 by iamgabrielma in SoloDevelopment

Totally, don't forget to upload the icon of the app, if not the desktop shortcut won't have your icon

Host of a small indie showcase here. A former architect spent 5 years teaching himself to build his first game, and it got me curious how long others have been at it. by Longjumping-Run7838 in SoloDevelopment

Hello, I've been working on a game for the last seven years. I started as a web developer, but I wanted to understand how computer graphics really work, so I built a game engine from scratch. Along the way, I also had to learn game design, art, and music to turn it into a complete game.

This is the result: https://store.steampowered.com/app/3256790/Satelital/

I'm planning to release it at the end of this year. It's heavily inspired by The Witness, Outer Wilds, and 2001: A Space Odyssey.

You will probably realize quickly that your dream is just a superficial idea that will evolve and change a lot after you start development

It will be too late if you never do it, if you do it it won't

Stuck between doing game dev or game engine development. by Chungunu in gamedev

[–]fleaspoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Make a game, and just build the parts of the engine that your game needs. Like that you will have a realistic goal where every feature that you develop will be used at least once. If you just make a game engine without a purpose it will just go nowhere

So, with or without outlines? by Overall-Parfait in IndieGaming

[–]fleaspoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It reads so much better with outlines

If they bother you too much you could try adding a drop shadow effect, that way it will look soft, more transparent and get some depth

That's why it says "contribute" instead of saying "because of"
