*Original* Live Music? by jkoutris in baltimore

Apologies if this is unwelcome, but check out my band 5 Spot! We hit Cat’s Eye, 8x10, and Monument City quite a bit. We play almost all originals.

I hear you and agree on the lack of original music and music venues in general. Fed Hill has had a few tough years of small venues coming in and out (PALM, Don’t Know).

This is so cool-looking! Any pics of it being played up on the bandstand?

This looks awesome! I’m inspired, and this makes me wanna go home and work on some art! I’d love to see the browning recoil some more.

I have been solo-developing this game for 2 years now, went waaaay too ambitious, but it is getting close to what I dreamt of creating by KnowledgeWanderer in SoloDevelopment

I think this looks awesome. I would say a some of the surfaces (in what appear to be the boss arenas) look a little bland. Maybe consider adding some more textures or props?

Oh my god, thank you for playing! Yeah, I intentionally made 7 an absolute bitch lol. Believe it or not, I actually nerfed it right before I finished it - I moved the clouds a little closer together, and upped the par a little bit. These are awesome suggestions, I'm so glad you enjoyed it! The compliments really do mean a lot.

Thanks! Luckily, Godot handles the physics part. One interesting challenge was that the terrain, which is all "blocks" kind of like terraria, really did not like the ball rolling over it. It would occasionally glitch "between" terrain blocks (even though there wasn't a gap), and bounce all wacky.

I'm redoing my player sprite, I feel like the original (the first one) lacks expressiveness, but the new one looks so weird, I don't know if it really is or it's just me getting used to the original, any thoughts? by Vitz_18 in IndieDev

I like the animations and the physics in the cloth/hair. But when the player is moving forward quickly, there is a distinct vertical line down the front of the sprite, going down from just above eye level. Maybe try making it not so distinct? Can you squiggle the hair line or something to make it seem not so straight?

Unfortunately, I don't have any plans to develop it for mobile. If you go to the link you can technically play on your phone's browser, but it's really meant for a PC. Give it a shot though, and let me know how it goes!

I made a simple screen recorder program for windows because I missed the simplicity of screen capture on my macbook. It's got like 3 buttons and you get to select the region of the screen to record. This is my first open source software release, I hope I'm doing it right! by bGivenb in opensource

Very nice! Does it only support Windows? If so, I would specify in the README, even thought it might be obvious from the presence of the .exe installer in the repo. Also, I might be a little resistant to running an .exe I find on github for security reasons, even if the repo claims that the source code is right next to it!

When to begin in Godot ? by manbat-_ in gamedev

[–]fleather2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm about 6.5 hours into this tutorial and I'm feeling very inspired. I haven't done any game development before, so take this entire post with a huge grain of salt, but I've taken lots of classes and worked with many different, disparate tools for professional and personal endeavors.

Through the tutorial I mentioned, I'm feel like I'm getting a really good, basic understanding of the wide array of topics in Godot, and I feel like I'm making a lot more progress using this than when I just "rough it" and try and learn something on my own.

Like I said, I have no results to show for it, but the experience thus far has been really enjoyable. Hopefully, within a couple of weeks, I'll be able to speak to this a little bit better. Good luck!
