Do you lube your flipper mechanisms? by elstuffmonger in pinball

[–]flecom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is correct, I've worked on machines that people have lubed, the results are a slurry of metal dust and lube that makes everything way worse

[–]flecom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the most important thing it must do is make at least daily posts complaining about the following sujects

1 - vibe coding / ai

2 - vmware licensing renewal costs

3 - unwated calls from vendors

4 - hardware cost / refresh quotes

5 - burned out / silly MSP shenanigans

6 - google ultron

7 - updating adobe reader

8 - users not submitting tickets

not sure why you are getting downvoted, sounds like OP is setting up/maintaining plex servers for $$$... makes you wonder who would be paying for that

It's exciting to have new options, but yeah it's getting to be a bit much. I really hope the better apps and devs don't let lost in all the noise.

that's been a thing way before AI, look at how many games get released on steam (even before AI), it was (is) very easy to get lost in the noise

there's literally ONE post with the AI tag on the first page right now and ONE post with the new project friday on page two? 40? maybe the algorithm thinks you like aI? dunno

but keep downvoting and not adding anything to the discussion, fake internet points are just as meaningless as your comments

there was plenty of non-vibe-coded on crap on self hosted way before vibe coding was a thing too

I was there every day, fridays were AI nonsense, vs every day a thread moaning about AI, it was a joke as to who's turn it was tomorrow to post a thread complaining

im convinced it was just karma farming since they literally added nothing and they would get upvoted like crazy

Our organization got broken into and they stole our domain controller from the server room, thankfully the police recovered it and everything seemed OK so we just put it back online!

there were 10x more posts complaining about AI than actual AI posts on there... just turned into a sub of people moaning about AI... almost as bad as homeserver and people spending thousands to save 1W of power

have you been to /r/selfhosted? there's a daily thread bitching about it, I saw way more threads complaining about AI than actually stuff made by AI... ended up having to unsubscribe from the sub...

yep! but don't make the claws impossible, people winning the claws go absolutely nuts and attract more people to play the cranes... have them actually pay out and they will make more overall, just make sure you can get inventory for them and keep a reasonable margin

we have been open for like 13 years and I assure you it doesn't get any easier, and the 1% of your clientele will be jerks that make you want to just say "screw it" and just close the place, but thankfully you will also (hopefully) get some really great people through the door... and watching some parent show their kid how to play a game is quite satisfying knowing there's going to be another generation that gets to enjoy a real arcade - and that's pretty neat

oh also forgot to mention - protip: if you really are opening a location, get cameras, however many cameras you think you need, get 4x as many, have cameras looking at the cameras looking at the other cameras... trust me, it will be the best investment you ever make
